So it looks like I'm going to be unemployed soon...

A woman after my own heart!

Wanna tell us the name of your band so I can maybe come hear you some time?

Bumbazine
Yeah, we may have the makings of a little fest here…

MrVisible,
World domination? Well, depending on how my tour guide business shapes up, I should have time for that.

Actually, I have some pretty good leads on the re-employment front already. I told one of the guys in our commercial department about my impending departure, and he said to give him a copy of my resume. He knows lots of architects and engineers around town. Also, there’s a competing company in town that will likely be interested in stealing me.

My current plan is to take the rest of the year off and hopefully start a new job in January.

Anyway, thank you all for your good thoughts and support. It helps a lot.

Oh, on preview, I see Lisa is back…
Cool. We’ll have to work something out.

Great! And I’m glad you get a nice vacation. I’m sure you deserve it.

Just over $80,000, for them what can’t do the math.

Well, I talked to the HR folks this morning. My official last day is the 22nd.

Provided I sign an agreement to not sue them for discrimination and so forth, severence package is as follows:[ul][li]12 weeks pay[/li][li]25 days accrued vacation pay (10 left over from this year, and 15 for next)[/li][li]Medical, dental, and life insurance to continue through the end of February.[/li][li]Access to some sort of proffesional employment service[/ul][/li]To sum up: WOOHOO!!

I’m going to get about 4 months pay! And I never have to see my asshole boss again! PLUS I get unemployment. Which means that for the next couple of months, I’m going to be lounging around doing whatever I feel like, and getting paid MORE than I am now!

Color me stoked.

So now I figure I won’t need to touch the 401k either. (But Skammer…8 percent? What decade are you living in? The damn thing has lost nearly a thousand bucks since March!)

Now about that party…

Its a bad idea.

The 8% is on average- this year is down, next year may be up. Remember the late Nineties-- double digit returns ect. It can happen again. You can’t win if your not in the game. . .

Also, you may want to network and such forth (maybe some pro-bono work) prior to starting to look for work. Professional positions take longer to get.

Enjoy your unemployment!
