About a year ago one of our cats started peeing on the bath mats. Turned out to be a bladder infection. Fixed the infection, after a while managed to get cat to stop peeing on the bath mats.

We just went away on vacation for 2 weeks and I think he is mad at us for leaving because he is now peeing on the bath mats again (Everything else is normal so I don’t think it’s another infection). Of course the other human members of the household can’t remember they now need to pick up the bath mat after they shower to prevent the cat from peeing on it so I am continually washing bath mats.

> It’s not just St. Louis. The Stanley Cup [recently made an appearance in Saskatchewan](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/stanley-cup-in-regina-1.5202754) to great acclaim because two of the Blues players are from there. No doubt they put stuff in it there, too. 😃

I think each player on the winning team gets possession of the Cup for a week. I remember when the Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in 1996. The Avalanche had relocated to Colorado from Quebec City, where they were the Nordiques. Goalie Patrick Roy took the Cup to Quebec City, where he was born, and had it put on display.

Well, obviously!
They are all middlemen who will be cut out of the profit chain if you use CBD instead.

They aren’t more common because the cost more money. And businesses aren’t inclined to spend more money on things that bring in _zero_ profit!

Air conditioning crapped out this afternoon.
I am in Houston, it is July, waiting isn’t an option.
We knew the whole system was on its last legs when we bought the house and it seamed to be cobbled together from different manufacturers parts, probably due to incremental fixes over the years so we had some rainy day funds for this, but feck, no slow wind down and opportunity for shopping around.
New 5 ton variable system installed tomorrow, but feckity feck it’s going to be a sweaty night.

> But on a positive note, if I had to rate the quality of an itch, I would put “poison ivy” a few notches above “insect bite” and “generic allergic reaction” and several notches above “fiberglas insulation”. It truly is a pleasant itch to scratch.

Bleh :(. I had poison ivy on my _face_ when I was 9. I was gathering leaves for a school project - and for some reason, held one up to my face. We used a lot of Caladryl (which basically does fuck-all compared with the cortisone creams available nowadays, I gather). At least doctors are more willing to prescribe oral steroids if it gets bad enough, as a co-worker learned a few years back.

Itching: Yeah, there’s something very satisfying about scratching one of **those** itches. “Itch-gasm” is my word for it :D.

The worst itching I ever had was late 2009 when my gallbladder was acting up. My liver was affected, and that meant that my hands and feet itched NONSTOP for 48+ hours. I literally could not sleep, I knew it wasn’t anything steroids would help, scratching did utterly nothing, hot water (which can short-circuit insect-bite itches for a bit) did nothing; _cold_ water helped briefly but I was not about to spend hours with hands and feet in ice water.

I suspect fiberglass is… well, not “more pleasant” but “less likely to induce suicidal thoughts”.

I refer you to the [Two Lumps comic strip](http://twolumps.net/), which has frequent examples of this sort of cursing.

Naturally it couldn’t have died a few days ago, when we were enjoying overnight lows that actually got below 70… That sucks to hear. This place is misery without a/c in the summer. (Notes current temp at 6:11 am local, of 79 degrees and somewhere north of 80 percent humidity.)

Allow me to introduce you to a few more massive time sinks.

[Digger](http://diggercomic.com/blog/2007/02/01/wombat1-gnorf/): a comic strip about a very kind and practical wombat who gets involved with magic and gods. Hugo winning strip that got turned into an almost 900-page book.

[General Protection Fault](https://www.gpf-comics.com/archive/1998/11/02): a comic about a small software company that gets involved in some very, very strange events. Has been running for almost 2 decades now, 3x a week.

[A Girl and Her Fed](https://agirlandherfed.com/): a comic strip about a woman who gets involved with what starts out as a group of people turned into cyborgs in a secret government project, and then it gets weird.

[User Friendly](http://userfriendly.org/): a comic strip about a small Internet company in Canada. Only published for 10 years, but still available online.

It’s the busiest moving day of the year, at least here in town. (Many college student apartment leases end on July 31.) So who would think that you’d be able to rent a truck at the last minute for moving? Well, my wife and stepdaughter, apparently. Why weren’t we getting her moved over the weekend? Well, according to my wife, “she thought she could do it herself and didn’t want to ask anyone for help and inconvenience them.” Instead, I have to take two hours away from work this morning to drive my wife 30 miles to get a U-Haul truck because there are none in town. Yeah, thanks for not inconveniencing me! (At least my wife didn’t ask me to take the whole day off of work at the last minute so I could help move.)

Calamine lotion is all over my arms right now. The fancy creme from the doctor says to apply twice a day, but I need some relief during the rest of the day. And it seems to be helping a bit. The blisters don’t seem to care a bit about the creme.

But it’s such a _good_ itch (I like your word for it). And it gives me an excuse to sing that “Poison Ivy” song all around the house.

At least my wife’s face is looking better. The pills she got seem to be doing the trick.
