Does it have a grinder, or just a filter? Can you check the appropriate part to see if it’s got anything wrong? Have you ever tried rerunning the washer with the same stuff in it, to see if the smell persists?

> And speaking of the “ass end of a skunk”: A week or so ago, a skunk evidently met its demise along a road we travel multiple times a day. A spraying would, I imagine, have begun to dissipate by now especially since we’ve had a fair bit of rain. A deceased skunk might well be sitting there, fermenting ([appropriate video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uu5hzc2Mei4)). Ah, the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. I’m looking forward to being able to drive that bit of road without the windows up and recirculation turned on, not that this does much. That stuff permeates EVERYTHING.

A glass glass, that had been handwashed a couple of times after its visit to the dishwasher. The smell is also on the plates (Corelle) and sometimes even the silverware.

Henceforth I shall drink my water from plastic disposable cups and handwash dishes until this stops. In the past it has disappeared as mysteriously as it arrived. I went months doing dishes by hand, before trusting the dishwasher again, and it was gone. Now IT"S BACK.

I recently started a new job as a director in the company I’ve been in for several years. Which is great. What’s not so great is that the previous director in many cases did her team’s job for them. And when I say that, I mean it in a very literal sense - she gave project requirements while they sat on the phone and listened, she developed their powerpoint presentations for them and often presented them for her teammates instead of having them do it. She also wrote all their documentation. Most people had no idea she even HAD employees.

Anyway, every time I assign work out to my employees, they constantly pull the old director in because they don’t know how to do their damn jobs. Most of these people have been in the same role for over three years! I talked to my boss about it and she hadn’t realized how little of the basics all of them knew. So now I get to retrain them on their jobs because apparently none of them have been doing their jobs for the last three years.

Probably should’ve mentioned the 50 pound backpack. And my aching feet, which is another rant altogether — lately every pair of shoes I own is causing some sort of pain. One pair makes my toes scream. Another is excruciating on the arches. Another makes my heels hurt. I have no idea what’s going on, I just keep switching around to minimize the discomfort. Getting off my feet was actually more important than the AC. But I shouldn’t have to choose.

I think the root of most of my misery is that my subway stop is closed for a 9 month renovation. So I’ve been having to walk several extra blocks every day, each way. With my heavy backpack. Not only is it making my feet hurt, it’s screwing with my schedule. Before, going home for a little while then going back out was an option for midday gaps in my schedule. But the walking makes it prohibitive.

Tl/dr. Yeah, but then I wouldn’t have anything to bitch about.

Can you report stuff to LinkedIn without being a member of LinkedIn? ‘Cos I am most definitely NOT a candidate for membership in that network, but I keep getting emailed with “invitations” to join up, and I’d like for them to stop, please.

One that I’ve gotten repeatedly claims that they come from my sister. When I asked her about it, she said that LinkedIn is just harvesting her email contacts list.

Does your dishwasher have a filter that needs to be cleaned out sometimes?

Cat, what you don’t seem to have caught on to is that the food in your bowl is the only food you’re going to get. The vet says this is what you have to eat. Whining to be fed, then whining a minute later that you want out of the carrier because this food is not to your liking, then whining to be fed again 5 minutes later is not going to change the food. This is what you get. You were just fine with eating it day before yesterday, you know.

And if you keep this up for much longer, I may be screaming my head off at you, because while I love you I am getting really, really tired of the constant caterwauling.

Free advice:

I’ve winnowed my bag down to the essentials, and less than half the weight. This necessitated keeping some of its contents at work, some at home, and dealing with not having a ton of “Everything I’d Ever Need” with me at all times.

And I’m only wearing comfortable KEENs or Rockports with orthopedic insoles (prescribed by a podiatrist… but not the expensive custom ones. She said I’d do fine with Superfeet from REI).

Maybe check the area where you store your glasses, plates, etc.? Might be something stinky in/around/below the cabinet.

_With her authorization_:smack:. In order for LinkedIn to do that, she actually needs to click on a button that pops up whenever she accepts an invitation. It would be polite of her to stop clicking on the “would you like us to contact anybody you’ve ever emailed with?” button. “Ma’am, do you realize you were doing 120 in a 50 street?” “Oh, it wasn’t me, it was the car!”

And AFAICT trying to contact them from “outside” takes you through a maze which eventually ends up needing to be registered anyway.
Can you set a filter on your end, to send any mail from “(at)LinkedIn” directly to the trash?

Yeah, that’s what happens when you hire a micromanager. Can’t trust her own people to do their own jobs and won’t train them.

I swear that if I ever got rich and bought a company, I’d tell the employees to please notify me of every micromanager in the place so I could fire every last one of them. _For cause_. Denying them unemployment.

</div>

I have a headache. It hurts. I’ve had a headache every day this week. Whoever invented headaches needs to be fired.

In a slightly more serious rant - Over the 4th of July weekend, my daughter and I went swimming at a pool while my husband and his mother went cabinet shopping. We needed to get the girl’s energy out and my husband needed time with his mother. It was a win-win. The plan was that they would go get the cabinets and then join us at the pool.

Things started well. We got the girl all slathered with sunscreen, in her swimsuit and cover up, and me all dressed as well. We go in and the place is packed, probably because of the holiday. I drag the girl all the way to the back (she was very excited to go swim and did not care that she was still wearing clothes or that I needed to put my bag down) to find a spot. Then I dragged her all the way back to the front to take her potty before getting in the pool. She didn’t go and wouldn’t even try but, whatever, we are here to have fun. In that time, walking across the hot pavement barefoot, I burnt the soles of my feet. No matter, we are getting in the pool, walking is for peasants, it’ll be fine. And it started really well. My daughter really likes the water and this was so much fun. As time goes on though, I begin to wonder where my husband is. I call him and they are still shopping but they’ll be done soon. I wait an hour and call them again, almost done, be there soon. At that point, it’d been about 2 and a half hours and my feet were really blistered and painful.

Finally, I call again and he says they are on their way. I’m fully expecting them to come in and hang out at the pool, letting the girl have even more fun but give me a break from the constant vilgilance. What my husband actually does is call me a million times and then finally have the front people call us over the PA. Now, I’m in the pool with our kid, I didn’t have my phone on me. But I did hear the PA.

So, I grab our daughter and put her on the side of the pool, telling her that Daddy is here and the we need to go see him. Then, I let go of her so I could get myself out the pool. She took off.

At this pool, they had a bunch of baby waterslides, a bigger waterslide, and two massive waterslides where were closed. Where does my daughter run toward? The big, closed waterslides. This pool was in a wooded area so the path to the top of the waterslides was up a hill with trees on it. There was a paved path but the girl opted to climb directly up the hill and through the woods. I’m yelling at her to come back, trying to coax her back down the hill and onto the pavement (remember, giant painful blisters on the soles of my feet) but she’s crying and moving farther and farther away. Meanwhile, everyone is staring. I run up the hill after her, through the trees and all the way over to the platform for the big waterslides. She was about to get on it when I finally caught her. She’s screaming and crying and I’m yelling and EVERYONE is staring. I drag her back to our things and attempt to put her clothes on her while also never letting go of her. I’m unsuccessful. I finally get on the phone with my husband and he comes in to help me carry her out.

And EVERYONE stared. And no one helped. Not even a lifeguard.

This happened almost a week ago and I’m still feeling ashamed about it. But I’m also a little angry too. Seriously, not even a lifeguard? Not even to say “Hey, those are closed!”?

Do you have health insurance? I used nice insoles to treat my foot pain for years, but they only help somewhat, they wear out quickly, and they end up being several hundred bucks per year. Then I went to a podiatrist who made me custom orthopedics, which completely eliminated my pain, were free with insurance, and are still going strong 10 years later.

check your water heater? I rent a duplex and they had to put in a new water heater, after some time I kept smelling bread or toast when I was in my bathroom (adjoined to next door) and i thought it was odd that the neighbors would be fixing toast in the middle of the night but thought “whatever”. fast forward again and all of the sudden the the water coming out of the faucet started smelling nasty. got the landlords to check it finally and something had been installed upside down in the water heater.

just a possibility.

So excited about my 2nd litter of black-eyed white ratties (I raise African soft-furred rats) since this is a color I really want to breed, and the first babies were mostly boys.

This litter had five girls, and ELEVEN BOYS \>\< so instead of breeding lots more of this color, I wound up making a bunch of very pretty snake food. _SMH_

For the second month in a row, my son’s rent is (at time of this writing) two weeks late. He doesn’t pay it to me, but as I used to be on the account I can still access it and watch the late charges mounting up.
I try not to say anything, but it really stresses me. So last night when we spoke I asked him about it and he said, “Oh, I paid it today!” Well…that was a lie. :smack:
I’m trying to just let go and let him be responsible for his own life, since I have no control over him. I wish I knew what the real issue is.
I’ve checked that site ten times today and feel worse every time, but I keep hoping the _next_ time it’ll be done and I won’t have to sweat this anymore until the first of next month.
