aaaaaarrgg thank you for your comments. I am Jewish and am not interested in any Christian-based volunteering. Or any Jewish-based volunteering for that matter. Americorps does work only in the U.S. (it is the US’s own domestic Peace Corps, I think Teach For America is its biggest program).
Non-sectarian, international experience is my preference.
It’s interesting because I have a wierd mishmash of experience. Aside from my 5 years in marketing for a major US retailer, I also use to do quite a lot of carpentry in college (through theater). I could contribute to, but not lead, construction projects. I also have a ton of experience handling, feeding, etc., horses although I’m not totally sure this is considered “agriculture.”
I lived for 7 weeks in a small town in Bulgaria in college, while on an archaeological dig. I know all about erratically available cold water showers, getting your Typhoid vaccinations up to date, and eating an awful lot of cabbage.
PS. Jill. That would be great, unfortunately He finished his 2 year stint in the hospital in the US due to a liver infection about a month or so ago. I hadn’t talked to him until recently and discovered he was back in the states in grad school now.
Hey, remember how we talked this weekend about CIA involvement in the Peace Corps?
As with most intelligence techniques it’s difficult to get much public info, but I just thought you’d like to see the following…
Old CNN article regarding Senate debate on subject. (Apparently Peace Corps volunteers could be recruited on authority of either the President or the Director of Central Intelligence (DCI). Could not find if this is still the case now…)
