# So I've have to get this out somewhere...mixed couple discussion and issues with my father

If you really want or need to cut off communication with your father, then do so, but this doesn’t sound like a good reason to do so.

My ex’s mother was transparently uncomfortable with her daughter having a same-sex relationship and having to, in a way, come out herself, as the mother of a lesbian. She was also transparently trying her very hardest and she’s a lovely person. Most people can adapt, but it’s not instantaneous.
