I know, not another one, right ? _sigh_. Today my sweet little dog Hannah died. It was very unexpected. Just a few days ago I watched her hunting a rat which had come up in the yard from the hayfields - she was jumping all around the porch, turning over flowerpots and crawling under stuff. I really don’t know how old she was when we got her, a friend of mine found her on the side of the road in Tennessee. We had her for almost 11 years. She was one of the sweetest dogs I ever knew, just very pleasant and ladylike (when she wasn’t hunting). She was quite the huntress - squirrels and snakes didn’t stand a chance with her. Anyway, I could tell that she didn’t feel well for a day or two, and today I had made her an appointment at the vet’s to see what had her feeling unwell. She wasn’t whining or complaining … just looked kind of sad. But before time came for the appointment she slipped away - quite peacefully, lying in the shade in her favorite spot. Goodbye dear puppy. Thank you for being such a sugar pie, such pleasant company. See you on the other side. Awww, She looked a little like a beagle I had growing up. Happy was a great hunter also. I’m so sorry but glad she went peacefully. ---

I saw the pics, looks like Hannah was a really good pal. A dog raised right is great family and a difficult loss to deal with. my dogs Pepo and Brillo have been gone for years now and it is still very depressing to think of them not being around anymore. I am sorry for your loss, NinetyWt. ---

I am so very sorry. This is the part odf dog ownership that hurts like hell. She looks like a wonderful dog who was obviously well loved. ---

☹ I’m so sorry. I’ve got a thirteen-year-old that I pray goes as peacefully. It doesn’t hurt any less but I really don’t want to go through the whole vet thing again. R.I.P Hannah. ---
