No fair making me cry at work. Last year was particularly bad for me as I lost two large dogs to old age and one hit by a car. it’s always so hard to let go, but it helps to know that they were loved and couldn’t’ve had a better life, or a better friend.
My old Scout is still hanging in there, but I still come down the stairs every morning with a little bit of trepidation, wondering if today is the day, until I hear her tags jingle in the kitchen. She’s still mobile and apparently content (and even bouncy here and there most days), but I’ve noticed the little clues that she is slowing down.
You did the last loving thing you could for him, and that’s all a good dog can ask.
Thanks again to all for the kind words. Sorry I made some of you cry. Note to self: Fix nose pads on glasses before emotional events, as tears seriously screw up your contacts.
I have learned something here about the reason the mods advise against reviving zomby threads. 'Twould have been better to start a new thread with a link to the old, I now see, as at least one response is directed at the OP and not the followup. No offense taken as I sometimes am guilty of replying without reading the entire thread myself.
Mods, with due respect to those whishing to offer thier condolances, it would perhaps be best to lock this thread. I’ve learned a lesson here, and a warning will be accepted, but isn’t really needed.
Thanks again for the kind words.
Mods: I now understand better the advice against reviving somby threads, as at least one of the replies applies to the OP, but is out of place considering my followup. (No offense taken, as I have been known to fire off a reply prior to reaching the end of a thread).
If the mods (no disrespect to those who would still wish to post condolances) would be so kind as to lock this thread, that is perhaps the best solution. Lesson learned, no warning needed, but will understand if applied.
