A family member of my own recently had a battle with cancer, and I currently have a friend battling colon cancer, so I know how difficult this must be for you **Ayesha**. I hope your mother will be okay. ---

Thank you everyone. Your thoughts and prayers mean a lot. Mom is home now, they released her today before I even got there. I am so pissed and confused. It looks like she is suppossed to go for more radiation everyday for the next 10 days I don’t know, the hospital had a let6ter in her chart saying she wants me to make decisions for her with not one but two numbers to call and if i am not at either number or the hospital both phones have working answering machines . They should have called me and someone should have explained everything to me, because Mom is in and out of it mostly out and we have a PROBLEM here, I do not drive, Mom can not drive with the drugs she is on and there is no way she is strong enough to take the bus even with me there with her. Why is it that I feel like I am dealing with idiots even though most of these people have two to three times the education I have. ? GRRRRRRRRRRRR. Don’t be shocked if I wind up in the pit with this sooner or later. And people wonder why folks don’t want to use the county hospital if they can avoid it. ---

Update, Mom’s cancer is stage 3 non small cell lung cancer. I haveno clue what it means but that is what it is. My cousin’s husband is in cancer research and maybe he can tell us more. The doctors say she has a 40% chance of surviving for 3 to 5 years. The radiation treatments are pallitive not curative (At least that is what one doctor told me last night) Mom and I had a sucky day yesterday, I got her to the hospital for her treatment and we waited 3 hours for that (they said something about needing some special type of for that wasn’t ready until then) . The after the treatment Mom coughed up some blood and was having chest pain so off to the ER we went. We got home sometime after 4 am, needless to say Mom had me call her appointment for today off, she is too tired and sick to go back after the 18 hour ordeal we went through. Thankfully one of my sisters came in today, she and her husband are going to take care of Mom for a few days so I can go home, I have picked up some type of cold or something (at the hospital I bet) and can’t be around Mom with this since the treatments comprmise her immune system. Well guys once again I thank you, I am exhausted and am going to try to catch a nap. ps, EVE spoke to me. {{{{Eve}}}}} yeah I know you must kill me now , oh well I can die happy 😃 ---

I don’t know about non-small cell, but small cell is characterized as being a type that will respond to chemo and/or radiation easily, but it is also quick to metastize. Mom’s spread to her brain and liver quickly. Of course, since that’s not what your mother has, YMWillV. You’re in my prayers, Ayesha. ---

Sorry for all the pain and anguish you and your mother are encuring. Let me be brutally frank in saying it is time for a reality check. What options are available to you? Which one is ‘best.’ 1. Agressive cancer treatment. 2. Minimum pallative treatment with pain management. 3. Pain management only. Discuss these options with her and her doctor. At this point any treatment which extend life at expense of pain and suffering is not an option. You and your mom have to decide, with the D.r’s advice, what is best, long term, for her. ---

Things sound ghastly at your end, hope they get better, or at least your Mom gets some decent pain meds. ---

**Ayesha:** My Mom just passed away in January from complications related to her cancer treatments; she had stage 3B non-small cell lung cancer. Keep up her strength, and yours as well. ---

My Mom has lung cancer, too. **Ayesha** , it sounds like you haven’t had a chance to talk with any of your Mom’s doctors yet? Like others have said, make an appointment to do that, so you, your Mom, your sister, etc. can make the most informed decisions about her treatment from here on. And don’t forget to take care of yourself. I’m sorry you have to go through this.
