I’m happy to say that you must know different people than I know.

OOPS…

I meant to say that even if you aren’t a prolific poster on LJ, which I am not, LJ allows you to keep up with friends who don’t post regularly to the message boards on which you you met them. I don’t post much on LJ, but I can read about my friend’s lives there if I don’t see them elsewhere. I have been told that I wasn’t put on a person’s list because I almost never post, (which was fine…their choice of course) and that is really the beauty of it…YOU decide your own criteria as to who YOU want to read your thoughts…and whose thoughts you want to read. And who you want to exclude.

Most of my friends have joined me on the UnaBoard, where we have a Member’s Only area where members can have a journal that is only visible to other members. This works well for me, mostly, but since there are people I love who aren’t there, LJ is a gift. Last year, when my baby Kobii (of the catness variety) was battling for her life, it was a way to keep people who truly cared updated without emailing everyone, And that was also a gift, since I was having a hard enough time as it was without having to email everyone individually.

Well obviously if you’re only visiting people you know who aren’t depressed, sure. But if you simply log onto some random LJ, odds are it’s going to be along the lines of what I explained.

Quite possibly true…I’ve never read a journal of someone I don’t know. I have a hard enough time keeping up with the people I DO know.

In case anyone else comes across/was wondering about this problem: I sent in a help request to LiveJournal (the problem happened every time, no matter which browser I used), and it turns out that there is a known issue with previewing private entries. It’s been fixed, but the fix isn’t in the current code yet and they’re not sure when it will get in there. The workaround is to preview in public mode, then switch to private before posting the update.
