She must be thrilled. He’s obviously making a very serious effort to keep the marriage together. ---

Unfortunately, I read somewhere (Daily Kos thread on this?) that the other woman is married with two children, and that Sanford claims he told her she should break it off and fix things with her marriage. Did this Argentinian woman just, out of the blue, e-mail a private citizen whose only claim to fame was that he was a three-term Congressman (he didn’t become governor until 2002 and he said the affair had gone on for 8 years) and pour out her marital problems to this stranger? ---

He had been in Argentina on some sort of fact-finding trip or trade trip as a Congresscritter, it seems, which is when he first met her. Though the details here are, shall we say, fuzzy as one of my grandmother’s sweaters… ---
