He’d better be careful when he’s three days from retirement. That’s when the old enemy jumps out of nowhere and guns him down as his young replacement yells “Nooooooooooooo!” Then the rookie Pope has to track down his killer and deliver some justice. ---

There’s no doubt in my mind this has something to do with the coverup of abuse. Well, except for the lack of direct evidence. But I’m not going to let that stand in my way. ---

I don’t blame him, it’s a dead end job, and the dress code is ridiculous. Now the question is, will he retire or dust off his resumé and look for a gig in IT or something? ---

I’m also wondering if this means that he’s managed to finagle enough votes in the College to elect his hand-picked successor (whoever that is). Not that he needs to have personally picked the next Pope with the current College…either way, we’re getting another reactionary on the throne. ---

This really is incredible. The last time this happened, Europe wasn’t even aware of the Americas (except for some icelanders and, ironically, the Vatican, which still had a listing for the “bishop of Vinland”). Do they even have a proper procedure and ceremony for this? Someone’s going to have to traipse down into the archives and blow dust off the “rarely used procedures” manual. They’ll undoubtedly have to change some things. Finding emnough _castrati_ will be difficult. Maybe they can substitute Justin Bieber. ---
