I guess I’m just looking for general reactions and, out of context, is this a put on? Do the producers go out of their way to pick buzz-worthy songs over quality? ---

Nobody seems to want to fix the real problem that everyone originally cited: Not just the lyrics, but how they repeat and how they fit rhythmically. It sounds like Chappelle’s white guy stereotype trying to rap. I honestly find it hilarious that giving it a new coat of paint makes it where people like it. Nothing about the song itself is changed. And, I’m not shaming anyone: I thought all the links in here sounded good, too. Well-produced dreck somehow sounds better. ---

I don’t understand all the hubbub about this song. Sure, it’s horrible, but how does that distinguish it from anything else being made these days? It’s just another bad song, which as far as I can tell is pretty much the norm. And get off my lawn. ---

That honor goes to “Jar of Hearts”, the one with the line “You’re gonna catch a cold/From the ice inside your soul”. That is the worst song I have heard in years. How anyone can listen to it without laughing is beyond me. “Friday” is a bubblegum pop song. You shouldn’t expect the lyrics to be good. “Jar of Hearts” is presented as a serious song, but it’s complete rubbish. ---

I was previously unaware of the rampant hatred for this song (or, really, the existence of this song), and, I have to say, I liked it on Glee. It wasn’t trying to be a serious song, it’s a party song, and entirely appropriate for The Prom atmosphere at that moment in the episode. I’m not going to add it to my playlist or anything (mostly because I can’t find my iPod), but it was…cheerful. ---

There’s a lot of things about the song/video/performance that makes it oh-so-wrong, but the most jarring is about 2 minutes when you get some large man in his 30s rapping about a 13 year old girl. The only thing that could have improved that sequence if it were the Pope. Then the thing would’ve been the first video on Youtube to get a billion views. 😉 ---

The thing I don’t get about Glee is the auto-tune. Is it supposed to be a show about people who can’t sing without technological enhancement? My kids watched some of this episode before school this morning, which was my first 20-minute exposure to Glee. I remain unimpressed. ---
