You pay them for sex with no strings. Sex is fairly easy to get, especially if you’re wealthy, famous, and powerful. At that point you’re paying for them to go away and keep quiet about it afterwards. Well, jeez, she’s apparently making enough money that she doesn’t need it. I don’t know what there is to feel sorry about–this girl is gorgeous, has the time and resources to pursue her musical dream and makes a fine living. The NY Times had a [profile](http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/13/nyregion/12cnd-kristen.html?_r=1&oref=slogin) of her. She was not a $5k an hour prostitute, but a $1,000 per hour prostitute. For the agency that she worked, she was considered mid-range: In the affidavit, the woman the Emperor’s Club called Kristen is described as “an American, petite, very pretty brunette, 5 feet 5 inches, and 105 pounds.” She apparently was booked at about $1,000 an hour, placing her in the middle of the seven-diamond scale by which the prostitutes were paid up to $4,300 an hour. ---
