# So...THIS Time, I am Officially a Failure... :-)

A FOSTER Failure, that is!
Two weeks ago, I got my second foster dog from above & Beyond Setter Rescue a orange & white 4 year old English Setter named Sugar. I was a little bit worried about taking her; she had been in a temporary foster home because she had come in heat and the temporary foster had all sorts of bad stories of her chewing up laptops among other things and snapping at her dog.
Sugar had never known the life as a pet. She had lived her life in a 10 X 10 run, her only companions the male Setter she was with and the puppies they produced. She was TERRIBLY thin, has a poorly healed broken rib, and flinches and cowers if you speak loudly or reach for her too suddenly.
She had no idea what dog treats or ‘people food’ were.
She came into my home and began learning. She is VERY smart, and has had only 2 accidents inside. She WANTS to please so badly. She love my dogs and plays with my Papillon Bnny as if she is her own puppy.
Last week, Sugar had a nightmare in bed, and woke howling- I swear it sounded like a person screaming NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! She dove up between me and Nick (My Gordon Setter) and hid her head under my pillow, trembling and whimpering. I held her till she went back to sleep. Since that day she now sleeps as close to me as she can get. She shares the corner of my pillow. She snuggles with the Gordons and the cats.
She belongs here.
I have spoken to the rescue coordinator and Sugar is to officially become mine. I could not love this dog more.

This one cracks me up… she looks so VICIOUS, but I was just holding a chewie for her and she was making these awfu faces!

Thanks y’all! I just really can’t say enough good things about Sugar. I am actually thinking about getting her ‘hardship’ registered and show her in obedience… she is so smart and eager to please. It’s been many years since I’ve been in the obedience ring, but I think she would be a really fun dog to work with.
It would also be great public relations for rescue dogs everywhere… kind of proving that they are worth the effort! 🙂
I have always wanted an English Setter… now I have one!

I know you’re joking in your thread title, but you did good. Any time you take in a scared, unsocialized animal and transform it into a loving, trusting pet, it’s a win-win situation all around. Especially for Sugar.

Flatlined- no, her eye isn’t infected, it just has pink pigment because she doesn’t have ‘color’ around it. I will have to be careful with her being outside in the summer because it will be more prone to sunburn.
