We’re flying home. If all goes well, we should land about 20 minutes to midnight. The only celebration we’ll have is if all of our luggage shows up on the conveyor belt 20 minutes later. ---

For us, it’s out of the ordinary to go anywhere on Amateur Drinking Night, but this year, we’ll take fate into our hands and walk next door to the neighbor’s NYE party. ---

This is the first New Years Eve since learning to drive that I will not be DDing. My best friend is hosting a NYE bash at his house this year and he lives about 4 houses away from me so I actually get to partake in some holiday cheer. I just have to remember to watch out for stray mailboxes and those damned neighborhood rabbits that wander the yards at night. ---

You mean my birthday!?!?!?! My sister and BIL are having a party – god bless middle age, the invitation reads “6 to 10.” I’m expecting to be home and fast asleep by midnight, so I can be awoken by the hullabaloo (I live in a neighborhood of pot-bangers). ---

We’re having our Second Occasional Lord of the New Year party. Starting at 10:00 a.m., we’ll be showing all three extended edition LOTR movies back-to-back-to-back. Also serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We’re expecting about 8 to 10 friends to join us for part or all of the show. The last movie should end around 10:45 p.m. I’d much rather do that than spend the day/night on the Strip surrounded by a quarter million of the mass of humanity. ---

Moving. I’m supposed to be shipping out tomorrow, in the early morning, arriving in the Bronx in the late afternoon/early evening. I might postpone for a few days, though. If I did that, I’d probably make some token appearance at a couple of parties, and then crash out early. The next day, I’d wake up and work like HELL to make sure I could leave ASAP. Wish me luck today. If I can get everything finished up tonight, I’m outta here tomorrow morning! ---

This will be my 36[sup]th[/sup] New Year’s Eve, but my first one spent with a boyfriend. I’ve had dates on NYE, but never with anyone I was serious about; likewise, I’ve been in a handful of relationships, but never for more than a year and seemingly never at the holidays. So this New Year’s Eve will be very out of the ordinary for me, in a very good way. 🙂 ---

This will be my first New Year’s Eve out on the town, so to speak. I’ve spent New Year’s Eve with friends at their home or at home with a girlfriend or even alone before but this year my fiancee and I are heading into the city to see Susan Werner play at some [cabaret](http://davenportspianobar.com/) style joint. The show is at 10:30pm so it’ll be a great new way to bring in the new year. ---

I’ve spent NYEs with boyfriends/husband before, but not for a long, long time. So it’s unusual for me. I felt the same way on NYE of 2002, when I knew I’d be spending it with **SkipMagic** , whom I’d met earlier that year. I bought a new skirt for the occasion. Then he showed up at my house SI-I-ICK, and ended up falling asleep on my couch at around 11:00. It was still one of the best New Year’s Eves I’d ever had. 🙂 ---

My wife and I have been invited to go and not party with some of her friends. There will be board games (be still my heart) and other non-threatening activities that don’t include ingesting any substances stronger than cola. I would have preferred to go and spend NYE with Johnnie Marshall and his band out at the blues club in the sticks, but it doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen. I’m not complaining too hard, mind you. I voluntarily gave up driving the porcelain bus on NYE many years ago. It’s just that what’s planned is so _square_, and I wasn’t looking forward to being quite that square this early in life. ---

I will be hiding under the covers. New Years is a horrible holiday for me…all the rest of them are fantastic, but bad things happen to me that night. I have been shot at, left alone at midnight so my SO could go smoke out with his friends, been to shitty parties where everyone I hate shows up, and last year I was molested. This year I am getting my book, my itty bitty booklight, and some popcorn and hitting the sack early. ---
