That is real Irish. “Ulster Scots” have been on Ireland for centuries (some before the Plantation)–and a substantial part of _their_ ancestry is Gaels who came to Scotland from Ireland.

They sure have, but scotch-irish were “only” here for a century or so before upping sticks for greener pastures. Their cousins as you say, remain in Ireland to this day.

So… Corned beef and cabbage with potatoes and carrots. And a slice of dried mango, a spear of dried papaya, and two Medjool dates. The SO is baking an apple pie, and there’s vanilla ice cream to go with it.

We drank and then we went home.
