That’s how I first wore one.
I thought it was to protect against tire tracks.
Are you guessing or do you have stats? I’m relaying information I had at one point in time, although I can’t find a cite right now. But I remember the numbers showed most pro baseball players do wear cups, although a large number do not.
One example of an outfielder that wears one is Ken Griffey Jr. He once was injured by a cracked cup.
When I pitched in high school, I wore one, and so did everyone else on the team. It’s not the pros, but it would surprise me if there was such a drastic drop off.
Really you should get one of those nice shiney Cod pieces your garb.
James The Just sells them and he is out in AZ somewhere.
If you need his website address let me know. They are much more comfortable than an athletic cup
Osip
umm… no?
Ahh, it’s a Kevin Costner movie about a golfer. Through the whole movie, everyone calls him by his nickname “Tin Cup” (presumably a reference to the cup in the hole on a golf green).
Anyhow, towards the end of the movie, someone asks how the guy got his nickname. Turns out, he used to be a catcher on a little league baseball team. The pitcher on their team tended to throw the balls low, and he didn’t think an athletic cup provided adequate protection, so he got something better.
So it was either gonna be “Tin Cup” or “CLANG”.
Whatever’s comfortable. Just remember to wear it INSIDE your clothing.
