Two very different ones I haven’t seen mentioned here, one actually from a TV series:
The Rookie, when Jimmie gets word that he’s going to the majors and calls home to tell the family, then at the end when he sees his dad after the game and gives him the game ball.
The Wire, when Bubbles struggles with the consequences of his actions at the end of season 4. That was just brutal.
Oh, and I think I cried a little at the end of Boxing Helena when I realized that I’d actually paid money to watch that piece of garbage…
