It seems to me that the whole point of not allowing the heifers access to bulls is to prevent calves. Otherwise, why would it matter? ---

A lot of intact male animals are much more aggressive when they are around fertile females so I assumed that was the issue. ---

You don’t put cows in feedlots precisely because you’ll lose money on them. ---

I went to Costco yesterday with one objective in mind: heavy cream. Two quarts of it. I hate going to Costco in any circumstances, and I especially hate going to Costco when they have no sign of heavy cream anywhere. ---

Just a couple of things I’ve found. If you have it shipped, Walmart has plenty of canned cat food available in multipacks. I saw different varieties of Fancy Feast, Friskies, etc. I know it’s Walmart, though. Costco has Saltines available for shipping. A 12-pack for $6.29 plus $3.00 for shipping if you don’t want to spend $75 for free shipping. ---

Sure, Walmart lets you add it to your cart but then says it’s not actually in stock when you try to check out. I’ve had that happen twice this week. ---

I’m unable to find egg noodles. Pasta is missing some items, but you can usually find something, but the spots for egg noodles are empty. ---

I actually was specifically looking for Manischewitz (they’re the only ones who know what a wide egg noodle is). They were empty, too. I got lucky – I shopped at a smaller store and they had some boutique brand noodles almost the right size. ---

I was in Wegmans this past weekend; I didn’t really notice any major shortages, other than a few very specific types of Easter candy (Peeps jellybeans and some small Ferrero Roche balls?). On a trip to Florida a couple weeks ago my sister took me out to her favorite restaurant for her favorite appetizer, Onion Threads – not something I had ever heard of, they are basically thinly sliced frozen onion rings – they had been removed from the menu. At the local (Pennsylvania) Giant there was a sign saying frozen onion rings were unavailable. ---

A couple of weeks ago I had frozen hash brown potatoes on my list. I wanted the patties, but Jewel not only didn’t have them, they didn’t have any bagged frozen hash browns either. I’m shopping tomorrow, so I checked the Jewel website. All frozen hash browns are marked as Out of Stock. However, a brief check says that Aldi has both types, so go figure. On a related note, a few weeks ago I noticed that Aldi didn’t have any baby carrots. I thought it was a stocking issue, but 2 weeks later (I shop every other week) they still didn’t have them. Jewel not only had them, but they were on sale.
