Let me see if I can sort of make this fit the thread title: **I’m seeing a shortage of hours!** My local Aldi’s was opening a half-hour earlier (opening at 8:30 AM) on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the stated purpose of providing special shopping times for people who might be more likely to fall ill. (Immune compromised, or can’t take the vaccine due to allergies. etc.) This morning they had a sign posted that they will return to 9:00 openings beginning April 4. Sigh. I really liked the 8:30 opening because I had a regular itinerary of medical center, megastore, and Aldi’s. Done by 9:00. No crowds. I wish they could keep the early opening time for at least one day during the week. (FWIW The clerk at Aldi’s told me that the store is usually almost empty 1/2 hour before they close.) ---

Meyer Lemons are “in season” Nov-Mar, but I haven’t been able to find any in my local produce markets. ---

Even during normal times, they’re typically scarce around here; you might see them at an upscale or specialty store, and only in small quantities. Starting around December, my mom was able to find Meyer lemons in packages of 5 - 6, even in the nearby chain store. They were unusually small though. ---

Today I noticed what some other folks have talked about in this thread - almost no saltine crackers. The entire shelf was empty, save for two boxes of the unsalted variety. The store I went to also didn’t have any of the crackers that I was actually looking for - Toasteds wheat variety. They were completely out of all the Toasteds varieties. Sun Chips have been hard to come by for months - sometimes there are none, sometimes there are a few bags of one flavor. ---

Yeah, I’ve noticed the shortage of the Toasteds crackers, I’ve been looking for the sesame version for a few weeks without luck. Saltines are hit or miss, one day my brother complained that they were out of his favorite brand, I went to another store in the same supermarket chain and they had a huge end of aisle display full of them. ---

Maybe it’s just where I live but there seems to be a lot less Easter candy available this year. For example, I haven’t been able to find my favorite, Cadbury Royal Dark Mini Eggs, anywhere and I’m not sure if they made a short supply or discontinued the product. ---

I live in Eastern Washington and when I went to the Hershey website to see where they were selling dark chocolate Mini Eggs, it indicated there weren’t any for sale in my region. ---

Well, that is very frustrating! Digging a little deeper I wasn’t able to find any in stock and available to ship. They’re listed but all ‘out of stock’. If I see any I’ll buy ‘em and PM you. They are a favorite Easter candy of mine too so I feel your disappointment. ---

Cream cheese must still be an issue because my buyer is now picking her order up from me instead of risking someone trying to “poach” me when I deliver it. I’m retired and I’m doing this as a hobby not because I want to work harder than I am now. I’m very flattered that she so worried about losing me as a supplier and it saves me from having to drive my car. ---

I’ve been noticing a shortage of certain food items, but since I buy the following items regularly: - Elf Fudge Sandwich Cookies - Knorr Butter Herb Rice - Club Mini Crackers It makes me wonder why I see other Elf Fudge, Knorr, & Club Cracker items, but certain items (from these brands) are out of stock? ---

Still not seeing shortages, but prices really shot up in the last few days. The worst is egg prices. The price of a half dozen eggs at the local grocery store went up just under 200%. ---

The Walmart in the small town we visited this weekend was out of eggs, save for two cartons of Eggland premium eggs. The local news blamed bird flu. They also said there will be a shortage for dyeing Easter eggs. ---

I don’t think there’s been a run-up to Easter since I was old enough to buy eggs that they weren’t 1.5x to 2x the cost of the other 10 months. ---
