Sheesh TubaDiva, you’re responding to this like a defensive attorney. I don’t think Alien was calling anyone out, he seems pretty happy, I think he was just wondering if some of the further things that were discussed as possibilities will happen.

I understand that no enforceable promises were made, that nothing stated by the Straight Dope on the subject should have have been taken as any form of express warranty, and that all implied warranties, including those of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, were expressly disclaimed and waived.

But I think the guy was just asking an innocent question. :slight_smile:

I leave as a project for the administrators to test doing searches in two ways:

1: Click the Search button at the top of the page, plug in a search term and click Go to search the entire database.

2: Go to Advanced Search and enter the same terms but choose a shorter term, such as 6 months.

Perhaps #2 may be significantly less load on the server to consider eliminating the “quick search of everything” and make the advanced search the default way, with 6 months or newer the default time range?
