> We (Texas) are very likely doing better than other places, but we’re taking a hit, too. I know that we’re facing a budget shortfall for the next couple of years, and the state has asked state-funded colleges to begin setting aside a slush fund to help get us through the crunch. This while enrollment hits record levels–to the point of saturation.

My understanding is that all Texas state agencies, including the colleges, have been required to provide a plan to reduce state general revenue expenditures by 5%. I don’t believe that there have been any cuts yet, simply the requirement that contingency plans be made. For example, this would affect the University of Texas at Austin by $29 million.

Don’t sweat it, Texas. Kanukistan is doing well, so we’ll keep at least half a million of you going (we’re your second largest export market).
