Darn, I replied to the linked thread instead of this one…now let me test my skills and see if I can copy it… Yes!!
Ooooh, I love the house! Kate’s room is wonderful! I’m in the Cleveland area (downtown for work). I’m a Methodist, and I get asked the Lent question too…and we have no tradition of giving things up for the duration, though we are encouraged to add prayer and study to our to-do lists. That’s one of the fun things about Methodism…no rules!
So doesn’t the local Giant Eagle or Tops have a kosher section there? Come visit Cleveland when you get lonely for temple!
Now just ignore that similar-sounding post in the other thread, alright?
Like Lok born and raised (in a wee bitty little town that no one has heard of) in Northeast OH (I can’t even say that it is near anywhere, because there aren’t any big town around there). It is about 60 mile east of Cleveland, though. I am temporarily in Wales, but I will be returning to my home state shortly. And howdy to all you other Buckeyes.
Oh, and pezboy2u, there isn’t anything to do except perhaps cow tipping. Just kidding. Compared to the cow town I come from, Akron is bustling. Of course, compared to Chicago… Well, again, you might want to think about some cow tipping or snipe hunting. Just make sure you get a licence for hunting snipe–you wouldn’t believe the fines if you are caught in the woods illegally hunting snipe.
I live in the Ohio Valley, just an hour and a half down the Ohio River from Cincinnati, on the Indiana side. I always spend some time in Ohio because my second favorite band, the awe-inspiring Over the Rhine, are residents of Cinci and tour Ohio heavily each year. If you get a chance to see them, you should. The woman’s voice is so amazing that it can’t be captured adequately on recording devices. Anyway, I digress…
So, please, if you feel so inclined, add me to your list of invitees. I’ve long wanted to attend one of your parties, and to meet other dopers in person. Thanks.
Across the river and around the bend, Parkersburg. I have lived and worked in Marietta. Sternwheel Festival is the big event there, and THE mall is down here.
