So who are the Ohio (and environs) Dopers?

Jeffersonville Township, which is between Jeffersonville and Utica. I lived in Louisville-proper for 20 years before moving over here about three years ago. I love it. I had no idea how much I would…it’s like everything good about Louisville right at your fingertips, but not much of the bad.

Another born-and-bred Ohioan from an itty-bitty town. I was gone for a few years on the West Coast, but have been back a while now, and in the Columbus area.

I kinda like Ohio, even after having a basis for comparison. We don’t have big legal battles over water rights, we have deciduous trees, we have four distinct seasons every year, and, best of all, we have President Howard Taft’s great-grandson as our governor! What more could you ask for?

Someone other than President Taft’s great-grandson as the governor?

Well, shit! Howdy, neighbor. If I’d have known we had another Doper in my neck of the woods, I’d have suggested getting together sometime.

I’ll wager that my itty bitty hometown is smaller than yours. Since I moved away, the metropolis proper is down to 250 people.

But now I seem to live near moejuck, who told me about a great place to get pistachio ice cream.

Julie

Pfui. A virtual metropolis. When I moved away from the town I grew up in, the population dropped to 69.

Lok

Holy jeebers. You win.

My current town, I’ll have you know, has 1200 people. And most of them aren’t even related to me! This is quite an improvement.

Julie

Well I am now living in the county seat. We have over 10,000 people here. Of course if that comes into a conversation with friends from places that are a little bigger, say 8 million people, the always comment on what a small town I live in. Then I get to blow their mind telling them about what a real small town is like.

Lok

Just now saw this thread…had to chime in.

I grew up in northern West Virginia (Morgantown).

Graduated from WVU, and moved to Dayton almost 2 years ago.

Nothing much to add, but just thought I’d get in on this bandwagon.

Sorry Evil One I am not a Cavalier. I am out in the country. But you are right thinking I am in high school.

Akron, Ohio Doper checking in

(actually Cuyahoga Falls)

Do exiles count? I was born in Cleveland (really Lakewood) and grew up in West Liberty on the southern edge of Logan County, delivered the Columbus Dispatch and listened to Ruth Lyons and Peter Grant on WLW, clear channel 700. I’ve lived in Iowa since 1958–some days it’s hard to tell the difference.

A Bearcat? A Sherman?

All right. You’re all invited when we schedule the house-warming.

It sure didn’t take you long to forget about the MADs.

Gypsy Joe’s–Lancaster, Ohio. It’s on West Fair Ave. and worth the drive, especially for you Chilli. Dopers. Can’t believe you remembered jsgoddess!

I think all of the Dopers in the Chillicothe and Lancaster/Columbus area should definitely get together soon, if not on some sort of regular basis. It does concern me, however, that Themanwiththegoldengun and EvilOne live in the same town. You two aren’t planning on world dominance are you?

Now who says I’ve forgotten you guys? You’ll be invited, too!

Sorry for the delay in replying Vanilla. No, I don’t take the 39, I live west near the Zoo now, but I use to live on the Eastside until about 12 years ago, so I know about Euclid. I guess I had Bratenahl on my mind having just visited so relatives there.
And Hi to Rudy! You are now far from some of my relatives.

Well E thorp, I am a high schooler lets leave it at that until we all meet. Makes me nervous saying much more on here… Moejuck-yes it is a conspiracy, ross county will some day rule the worl. That is if everyone else somehow just mysteriously dies and we are the only ones left. But yes I second the thought for us chilli, columbus, and lancaster dopers getting together. Someone start a thread and make a suggestion. I am game for that.
