Of course not, I just think it’s amusing that you hand out a bonus on December 24 and because you don’t call it a “Christmas Bonus” you think you don’t do them.

My job classification is not eligible for bonuses, whether performance-based or holiday-related.

I work in our state’s public higher education system (community college), so no bonus. We only recently started receiving cost-of-living and merit raises, after several years of no raises at all.

I work for a non-profit, and we don’t get any Christmas bonuses. We get merit-based raises that go into effect on the first paycheck of the new year, but those are typically pretty tiny. Still, I’ll take what I can get.

My husband is self-employed, so he doesn’t get a bonus either. Some years he does renegotiate his contract and get himself a raise, but that’s about it.

My sister-in-law’s small company gave all their employees iPads last year. I was a little jealous.

But, I don’t. Do away with Xmas tomorrow, next year I’ll still give an end of year bonus. Because my employees appreciate having extra $$ for their Winter Solstice time off, I distribute bonuses early.

No, it was a startup that was in the early phases of dying. Well, the early phases when I began working there. By the time I resigned there had been two rounds of layoffs, the original crew were all gone, and everyone was on 70% salary.

</div>

I don’t get a Christmas bonus, but my employer does have a profit-sharing program in place that happens to pay us a bonus in January (coinciding with the release of our fiscal year results).

Of course, that requires us to actually make a profit, which we didn’t do in the past two years but we are expected to this year.

I got a company-themed Christmas tree ornament.

No end-of-calendar-year bonus at my company. For the last couple of years, though, we’ve gotten profit-sharing bonuses for the previous year just before the end of the first quarter (around mid-March). It’s been about 6% of annual salary, so not too bad.

OK, but a “Christmas Bonus” and a “Year End Bonus” are the exact same thing. You’re hung up on the semantics of the question.

I’ve never gotten one, either in large companies or startups. The closest thing was a free frozen turkey from Digital each year between Thanksgiving and Christmas. But most of us donated them to charity.

Nope. Never once in 29 years of working full time. I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone personally who has ever received a Christmas bonus.

We don’t get one at Christmas. We usually get one in spring, but I found out this week from a source in the financial group, it’s looking bad for this year. ☹

</div>

I got one and was very surprised! It was pretty small ($75), but it was something and it was nice. The president of the board of directors and our executive director also made a nice lunch for the employees who worked Christmas Eve, we’ve had a couple other outside donors send lunch over the past couple weeks, and we’re loaded up on sweets sent by all kinds of people.

It’s very nice. I mean, lots of money would be nicer, but this is very nice.

I have never gotten such a bonus and I don’t know anyone who does anymore. We get bonuses based on performance and the company’s success, not for Christmas.

When I worked at the hospital I was lucky if my bonus was $25. My current job gives bonuses most yeasr and a profit sharing payment directly to my 401k. So no complaints. This years was better than expected in fact on both counts.

We’ve never gotten Christmas bonuses, but I’ve got a really nice mug waiting for me at the office. They also throw a hell of a shindig for the holidays.

We do get bonuses every year, right around the end of March, which generally works out to about 5% of our salary.

It is a function of my gross salary and a few multipliers, like job ranking, production levels, and so on. It should be good but we will take a big hit on the corporate safety component due to refinery fire in California. It will show up in March.

I know who you work for. 😛

Pretty much same here - when I have gotten bonuses it has been tied to various corporate and division goals, and often paid out with yearly raises. Sometimes it was quarterly. During the bubble they were quite tasty. But never tied to any holidays.

I work for the municipal government, so no bonus. Years ago a hospital I worked at gave out frozen turkeys for the holidays. I always gave mine away – what is a single guy going to do with a 25 lb. turkey?

Cancel Xmas and my peeps get their money. Cancel the end of the year and they’re fucked.😃
