Ditto. It wouldn’t occur to me to even think I should get one.
I get a bonus from my boss each year, $50.
I;ve had a bonus from only one other job, a deli I worked at in Michigan. It was for Hanukkah, not Christmas, but as long as the money was green I didn’t care!
I got a Christmas basket filled with goodies, including a bunch of stuff my company manufactures. The basket has been a tradition for 175 years, so TPTB can’t really stop it without looking like real Scrooges.
Our yearly bonus is calculated (and if approved) given to us in the spring. Could be a few grand if everybody meets their numbers. This is my first year with the company so my expectations are low.
I have a three person company. Myself and two employees.
I gave them, two weeks before Christmas, a card and a $50 VISA prepaid card.
Received nothing in return. Not even a thank you card.
Yeah, I’m a bit irked.
I get a yearly bonus in march or April which is approximately equal to one paycheck for me. Coupled with a tax return that is usually large the beginning of the new year is a fun time for me. But no Christmas bonuses.
I know of no college or university that gives Christmas bonuses to the faculty. There are usually collections from the faculty and higher level staff for the lower level staff.
The above came out of my pocket, btw, not the company’s.
Not me. I’m a government employee. I work for a public library. We have great benefits, but no yearly bonus. This is the first year in four than we’ll be receiving a cost of living raise. It will be 1% and will barely make a difference.
Even though we’re having a sucky year financially, all our employees work hard and are each getting $1,000 bonuses. This is less than they have received in the recent past, but they understand the situation.
I’ve only once ever gotten a bonus & it was tiny. Maybe $15? I had only been with the firm about 6 weeks so wasn’t expecting anything at all.
We get bonuses when we reach certain benchmarks in service not for Xmas. We do get a Xmas gift & its a similar thing each year. & we were taken out for lunch.
This year for the first time my husband got nothing. Every year he has either got a voucher for turkey or the supermarket, + freebies like calendars given by firms his company does business with, but nothing this year. They had a big Xmas party for staff but that was mostly funded by donations the firm does business with.
First of all, my company is sufficiently diverse and inclusive that they would not call it a “Christmas” bonus even if there were one. Which there isn’t, unless you count the free “holiday lunch” catered by the company cafeteria.
Nope. Got a 10% pay cut on Christmas Eve and another 6% today, too.
I used to have a summer-job that would pay $500-1000 cash in envelopes halfway through the season and at the end of October. Those were the only bonuses I’ve ever received from another business entity.
Honestly, working for 20+ years, I can’t remember ever getting a bonus. And that runs the gauntlet from being a dishwasher to Lehman Brothers to working at a global 50 company.
