# So who else is about to graduate? I took my last law exam this morning. Barring any massive, unforeseen complications with my seminar research paper, I’ll receive my J.D. degree, at age 35, on Sunday. Three years, six semesters, 90 credit hours, 33 classes (and 33 exams), ~$4,000 worth of books, a hipshot estimate of 200 miles of ink scribbled out onto notebook paper, three bookbags (the shoulder-straps kept giving out), and now I am DONE. It’s hard to believe. I don’t usually go to graduation ceremonies; I skipped the ceremonies for undergrad and graduate school. I wasn’t planning to go to this one either, but a classmate talked me into it (and I want to go to the after-parties), so Sunday I’ll don cap and gown and walk across the stage along with the rest of my class. Granted, I’ve still got the Tennessee Bar Exam ahead of me, but at least I’ll have the degree in hand, some official recognition of all the work I’ve put in over the last three years. Anybody else graduating? From what? How does it feel? Do share! ---

My little niecelette is graduating from Jr. High. She’s a smart and funny kid. I’m trying to figure out what to get her for a gift. ---

Well, I was supposed to be graduating college, with my last exam last night. Then I found out they denied me one of my exemptions (from a previous program) and didn’t tell me… And on top of that, they removed all evidence that I’d even applied for it from my file, so it took a bunch of detective work on my side to even discover what happened. So now I have to take another class, and I have a nice big F on my transcript. ---

That sucks, **St\_Ides.** Why do you an F for that, though? Can’t you get rid of it, if it’s a result of incomptence on the part of the administration? I’m graduating next month with an MA in the Humanities. Provided I turn in a passable thesis before the end of May. ---

I am graduating on May 12 with my BA in composite science, that is if I pass my finals…I should probably be studying. ---

Graduating with a BS in astrophysics from UC Santa Cruz in June. The big empty void that is the rest of my life is fast approaching and it’s like trying to swim upstream away from a waterfall. I’m terrified of what life outside of academia will bring; I think I may find myself eventually clawing my way into grad school just to avoid getting a real job. ---

Finished my last exam this morning for my BA in History/ Classical Studies, also from UC Santa Cruz. Although I’m studying abroad this year, so I don’t actually know when I get my degree… What next? Decided this year that I want to be a doctor, so come this fall I start all over again. Only 10 years of school left! Wooh! ---

My last class was Monday night. Thirty-five years after I graduated from high school, and twenty years after receiving my associate degree, I have finally earned a BS in management at age 53. I’m skipping the graduation ceremony on 5/13. My wife and I will be vacationing in the southwest US. ---

Hasn’t held me back, but at the same time, the degree will help if I’m looking for a job. ---

Even though I’m not technically defending until this summer, I’ll be walking in the may graduation for my Ph.D. in Psychology/Neuroscience. Today I’m off to a postdoc interview, desperately hoping that someone will want to hire me… The funny thing is that one of the major reasons (in hindsight) that I went to grad school was to put off figuring out what I wanted to be when I grew up. Well, now that I’m actually finishing the Ph.D. I’m going to get a postdoc to put off the decision point even more :smack: ---

My degree won’t change anything for me, career-wise, unless (maybe I should say when) I find myself looking for a job before I retire. Good luck with your remaining classes.
