I read in the bathroom all the time, a page here and there. I even made a wooden frame that fit over the top of the tub so I could rest a radio or book. I did this to pass time while soaking athletic injuries. I had the heat up to the max and a fan on too. The reading helped pass time. Now I moved and the fixture did not fit the new tub. Thankfully, I have no current injuries.

I definitely read in the bath (although I am not brave enough to take my iPad in there!) and in the bathroom. I also read in the hallway, at the dinner table, in front of the TV… If I’m awake, I’m probably reading.

The only time I’ve been in the bathtub here is when I was hanging wallpaper around the tub surround. Reading in the shower is impractical - splashing water aside, I don’t wear my glasses in the shower. 😃
Even in the olden days when I’d occasionally soak in the tub, I wouldn’t read. Apart from the danger of drenching the book, the water gets too cold too fast.

My mother–every single night–would retire to a hot bath with a good book and a kitchen timer, so she didn’t over-soak. I am more of a quick-shower girl, but I must admit on a cold night, a good too-hot bath and an excellent book are a treat.
I think I will do this tonight, it is \*freezing \*out! Thanks for the idea.

I do. I wish my tub were a tad deeper but it’s still big enough to be mostly comfortable. I love to read in there. If not reading, what the hell else would I do? If If a textbook is the right size and shape (and I own it, not renting it), I’ve been known to do my homework in the bath too.
I wouldn’t use my iPod in there though because the steam from a really hot bath killed one of my cell phones.

Isn’t that what baths are for? 🙂
It’s a very occasional thing for me and usually in winter - but showers are for cleaning and invigorating. Baths are for lingering, soapy suds and a good book. What else?
(I have a Kindle but haven’t thought to take it to the tub with me. Won’t it get steamed up?)

Heh. The last time I took a bath (other than a shower, of course) was when I broke my back and thought the hot water would help. That was about 2003, I think.

Always. I’ve been really brave so far with my iPad, trusting a ziploc bag to spare it from slashes and me to not slip and drop it. I’ve been eyeing some of the waterproofing options from CES.

I read in the tub; this is something I picked up as a habit from my SO, **Acid Lamp**. He’s an avid bathtub reader, so he can be found in the tub with a book, a snack, and water on a regular basis.

I wondered if there was a way to waterproof a Kindle. I do read it in the bath. Heck, one of the reasons I got it was because I was tired of holding up heavy books in the bathtub.

Just Google “waterproof Kindle” and you will find lots of products, $20 or less, that are specifically designed for poolside or tub reading.
As mentioned on another thread in Humble Opinion, I like the occasional hot bath on a cold weekend and love to read a book in there. It is like a mini-spa at home - relaxing, quiet and perfect place to read a few chapters of a good book.

I used to read in the bath when I was a teenager. I loved it so much that I started doing it again when we moved into this house (the first place I’d lived in in years which had a bath tub). I quickly found I didn’t like the experience at all. By the time I’d gathered up all the paraphernalia I ‘needed’, ran the bath, soaked for a while, I found I was completely over it.
Nowadays I just prefer to recline on the sofa.
