So with a tip of the hat to a previous thread about Captain America’s [sexual experience](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=719160&highlight=captain+america) I wonder who he should be hooking up with. He’s hooked up in the comics for sure, but who should he be hooked up with? Movie Cap definitely needs to get himself some. Some thoughts: _Peggy Carter_: Cap’s WWII love interest. I’m not familiar with her in the comics, but in the movie they get a nice, safe kiss before he goes off and gets stuck in an iceberg. As I understand it, there’s a scene in Winter Soldier where they reunite. I assume it’s a touching moment. _Black Widow_: I do believe that Rogers and Natasha have a moment in the new movie as well. I don’t think they’ve had a relationship in the regular Marvel universe, but there is a comic with the Next Avengers where they had a son. Although I can see the characters pairing, they have their similarities, I don’t really think this is a good one. _Sharon Carter_: Peggy’s niece and SHIELD agent has been on again and off again with Cap. I have to admit, I don’t like the paring very much, I think Carter has some Mary Sue tendencies and I don’t really find her that interesting. Plus she shot him with a time displacement bullet and that’s just mean. My mind is open though, so prove me wrong if you can. _Diamondback_: I liked this pairing in the comics. She was a bad guy and he was a good guy, so it was kind of like Batman and Catwoman, but Cap is more goody two shoes than Batman, so pairing him with a criminal seems interesting to me. There was a comic where they went on a date and two of Diamondback’s Serpent Society teammates were staking it out to make sure it went OK and didn’t get spoiled. She’s flawed and was striving to redeem herself, so she’s relatable. Plus she’s got the pink hair, so it’s kind of punk rock. Come on, that’s cool. Who else? I don’t know who else he’s been paired up with, I read that Ultimate Cap dated the Wasp. ---

I have always thought the answer to this was Sharon Carter. However, after watching the trailer for Winter Soldier, Black Widow might be interesting. ---

I second the cute blonde waitress option. Besides the obvious set-up for it, I think that supers should be with non-supers, just like I think that actors, politicians, and “personalities” should be with regular people. It tends to work out better in the long run. ---

The comic version of the Next Avengers kid is actually Black Widow and Bucky’s kid IIRC. Definitely not Natasha. Judging from the trailers, it looks like they’ve already gone past “friend zone” straight into “sibling zone”. My guess is that it will be a character with no significance beyond “Steve Rogers’s love interest”. That might be one of the Carters, or it might just be that lady from the diner. But picking two people to go together just because they’re both supers is a lousy way to pick. ---

Yes, but it have to involve some kind of convoluted subplot where he pretended to not like her while secretly e-mailing her (hijinks ensue while Rogers becomes conversent with this new-fangled technology) while she hides the grave secret that she’s actually a pre-op transsexual (more hijinks), and then they both get kidnapped by Flag-Smasher who takes them to Switzerland with the intention of uniting the world under ULTIMATUM rule, leaving them chained up in an alpine cave where they bicker constantly until they figure out if they work through their differences they can escape and beat the forces of anti-patriotism and that even as goofy as the Cap’s costume is, it is still less gay than that of the Swiss Guard. She then joins the Avengers as The Waitress of Glory whose primary abilities are and ability to fling a plate or pie tray with devastating accuracy and an uncanny ability to see when anyone is trying to sneak out without paying their bill. Also, she makes a phenomenal apple pie, so of course Steven Rogers has to marry her. Er…him. I mean her. As soon as the operation is complete. Tell me this isn’t the movie that kicks of Marvel Studios Phase IV. I dare you. I’m taking it to Kevin Feige right now. Stranger ---
