Inspired by [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=394417). So who would you like to see replace Bob on TPIR? For my part, I’d say **Regis Philbin**. In his 70’s, true, but physically fit and could be a good replacement for the 4-5 years I’d say the show has left. He’d appeal to the same demographic without coming off as old and infirm as Bob has the last couple of years. So, whaddya think? ---

Me! I’ve got until June to lose the weight. I’ve got all the qualifications - I’m breathing and human and can use more than two brain cells simultaneously. I could use a cushy job like that. They might have a problem, however, when instead of recommending the studio audience spay and neuter their pets, I recommend they spay and neuter themselves. ---

Look, the current “hip” trend is to revive comedians who have basically disappeared. You’ve got your “Deal or No Deal” with Howie Mandel. You’ve got that new “1 v. 100” with Bob Saget. It’s clear who should be next. Bobcat Goldthwait. ---

Heard this on the radio this morning, and no, I don’t have a cite. Evidently BB has a clause in his contract that says if he leaves the show in any way except by voluntarily hanging up his silly long skinny microphone, the show must go on hiatus for a minimum of a year or two, I forget. However, CBS has had a guy in the wings for years who is just waiting for BB to Plinko his way outta there. The guy’s been getting antsy and threatened to take another hosting job, so CBS offered BB a pantload of cash to opt out. He’s waiving the hiatus clause in the contract to let the new guy slip right in after him. ---
