I’m thinking that I ought to line the apartment in Irish Spring, all as a means to stop the government from reading my mind.
Thoughts on the practicality of such an implementation?

You could try making wax fruit out of it. Just leave a bowl of marbled apples, oranges and pears on the coffee table.

From the Funk & Wagnalls Big Book of Irish Spring Lore:

A couple of big bars in a sock are a handy sleep aid. But it may be difficult to get someone to apply it to the back of your head with sufficient force.

If you nail a bar of it over your front door, your friends will pass over your place in favor of other destinations.

An offering of Irish Spring shavings and paprika left behind the fridge will keep the little people from interfering with your student loan applications.

Any other readers holding their breath as they read this? I don’t like the smell of Irish Spring! Sometimes my son will leave a bar here, and I have to stick it in a ziplock.
That would be me. Can’t stand the damn stuff, it stinks to high heaven. I just keep thinking I’m glad I don’t know these people…

The teenager decided a couple years back that the soap we’d always used was boring and started buying other kinds. The first kind, of course, being Irish Spring. I _immediately_ reinstated the Irish Spring ban I hadn’t needed to enforce for the last twenty years.

However, the press-and-seal stuff is cool.

…Also, if you ever go to prison, it could help too…

do you mean in the “don’t drop it in the shower” sorta way?..
or the “carve it into a shiv and use it to help you escape” sorta way?

When I make soap, I always use the shavings in laundry. If you use an unscented detergent, sprinkle in a small handful of grated Irish Spring. It shouldn’t get too sudsy if you don’t use much, and you’ll get a light scent in your clothes.

Also, it might come in handy next St Patrick’s Day, late in the evening. Add to flat beer, give it a shake to bring up a fresh, foamy head, serve to drunken guests too far gone to notice. Warning: may have emetic properties. Not Recommended for home use, unless it’s someone elses’ home.
That’s awfully labor intensive indeed. Instead, the OP could just fresh squeeze an Irishman.
Precisely what method were you suggesting for this fresh Irishman-sqeezing? If it’s what I’m thinking of, she may have at least one Irish-American volunteer. But I dont’ think soap or essential oil will result. 😃

No matter.
What I really want to know is – what is this press and seal thing of which you speak?
::raises his hand::

But to be fair, it ain’t just Irish Spring. _Anything_ that has a strong scent, be it good or bad, gives me headaches. Its OK if I can get some fresh air, such as, if someone is wearing perfume, but I have to give a wide bearth to any store in the mall which pedals any kind of scented-what-have-you.

And I’ve added Press n’ Seal to my list for my next trip to the store.

Well, I’ve been doing some research myself, although I haven’t tried this. My son also loves the scent of Irish Spring. I have read and subsequently ordered Bamboo Grass Scent from Natures Garden and can’t wait to try it. You can also get this scent on Amazon. Does this help?

Does Irish Springs get rid of the 7 year itch? Or zombies?
