Well I got back yesterday arvo, and just in time to avoid missing another turn. I half expected to get back to see I had been eliminated. Thanks guys for not destroying me. Although I doubt it was through lack of trying šŸ˜› I do have a lot of work to do to get back to where I was, but letā€™s see how I go. Iā€™ve signed up for the new game two - Itā€™ll be interesting to see how a terminator game works. ---

itā€™s insane Shall I set up a new game without that option? or should we wait til the other game i finally over? I think it may come down to pink vs blue on that one. Iā€™m certainly not long for that world. ---

Iā€™d like to play!!! Iā€™ve just signed up at Conquer Club, but Iā€™ve only just played my first RL game over the weekend though, and Iā€™ve never played online before. So if I get to play, donā€™t expect too much from me. Iā€™m still pretty terrible. ---

You select ā€œjoin a gameā€ and type the game number into the appropriate field, then the password and youā€™re in. When we have all 6 players, the game starts. Whatā€™s your ConquerClub name (some of us have different screen names over there. Not me, but some of us ;))? ---

The board game gives you the three different card trade options (None, Flat, Escalating) with any of them being equally valid to use. I only ever played Flat Rate. And after a few games in Conquer Club on escalating I know why. ---

I was thinking of joining a few more games, but to be honest Iā€™m bit nervous about playing against other players with so much experience. I donā€™t want to be the player that wrecks the game for everyone. How did you guys find playing your first few games? ---

I like it. Iā€™ve been playing Risk for a few decades; playing on line just means I donā€™t have to beg my friends to play just one more game word of advice for a CC newbie - stay away from the Doodle Earth map - it looks easy, but unless you get a good starting position, itā€™s impossible to win. Also stay away from Fog of War games until youā€™re more confident. ---

[/QUOTE] **GreedySmurf** has answered, but in my experience, escalating is the preferred variant for board games because most people will want the game to end some time before sundown. šŸ˜‰ oh and **anyrose** , becareful of fog of war games. that variant is too susceptible to cheating imho. ---

Thanks for the welcome and advice, **shijinn** and **The Sonoran Lizard King**! I know thereā€™s no comparison to the real thing, but Iā€™ve been playing some online versions against AI players. Practice which will be almost completely useless against real players, but Iā€™ve gotten to try out a few different strategies. ---
