I think many in this thread would enjoy [The Curse](http://www.amazon.com/The-Curse-Confronting-Unmentionable-Menstruation/dp/0374526923/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1333911943&sr=1-3). I just read this book about a month or so ago, and I didn’t particularly realize how so much menstruation talk IS couched in euphemism. I think socialization is a huge component of this. Obviously YMMV depending on the specific environment you grew up in - we Dopers tend to be unique special frickin’ snowflakes, you know. 😉 ---

I live in LA and I once dated a stripper. She loved it when I gave her oral on her period, so did I. She was extra horny on her period and would sit on my face cowgirl. I mean, calling the products “protection”? How ridiculous is that? When I wear a sweatband, safety isn’t how I’m looking at the situation. ---

I think the concept there is protecting your _clothes_ from unwanted stains. One of the many “protection” products is called a “panty shield”, so I guess it’s protecting your panties from too much Awesome Woman Fluids. ---

This is how we do it - if I want to go down on her, we keep the tampon in and I try not to probe too deep - keep it to the labia and clit. Now, if the woman uses pads instead of tampons, I can very much believe that they’d find it very, very gross. It’s not always pretty down there, and I say this as someone with a fairly high tolerance for such things. But hey, everyone’s got _some_ kink. ---

I have had both oral and PIV sex during my period and I enjoyed it. The first time, I can still remember the look when he came up for air during :o, he looked like a serial killer :D. I preferred to avoid the heaviest days, however. It did help with the killer cramps, which was the first day or two. Frankly, I am glad to be done with menstruation! FREEEEEEEEEEDOM! ---
