Not a problem- it was my fault for not catching it. I had originally put the guy’s name in the title and thought that it might be a problem for the mods, so I copy & pasted the text thinking I’d edit it when finished.
Unfortunately this isn’t a very great debate- either people think I’m right on target (doubtful) or a Dale Gribble-esque conspiracy theorist. Those that have responded
I’m glad you brought this up - I had forgotten about the whole thing. It seems that the government wants us to forget about it too. If they don’t know who did it, why aren’t we being updated on the investigation? The whole thing has always looked suspicious.
Chula, law enforcement in general is loathe to bring up investigations except after arrests and convictions (when they look good). Giving away names of people under investigation and how the investigation is being done is generally not done for the simple reason that they do not want to tip off the perpetrators as they are still at large.
There are lots of unsolved crimes, even some that are very famous, like the Zodiac killer. In that case, the cryptograms implied a person with a specific background and education (mathematics), yet that wasn’t enough to catch the person.
Heck, we haven’t even caught all the terrorists whose identities we already know.
Lastly, doesn’t it seem absurd not to arrest this person for PR purposes (focusing on the war abroad)? There have not been that many developments and I imagine catching somebody would be quite good for the administration (though I doubt that they have that much to do with it). Knowing another terrorist is still at large is not boosting confidence.
I still don’t think they really know who it is, if they knew, they’d arrest him.
