So you pull off the Bank Job....now what?

Yes, but doing that requires permits, paper trails and holding down a…job! Hardly worth it.

Maybe not. I bought a used car with $6,000 in fifties at a dealership near Reston, and nobody acted like it was anything out of the ordinary.

Open a bar in Vegas. You wouldn’t even need to be smart in order to get away with it. You could buy all sorts of extravagant things by borrowing against the bar and then your “booming” business just pays down the loan. Factor in gambling and you would disappear in the industry in a hurry.

Once you hit $10,000 though, you fall afoul of the cash tranasction reporting requirements and all of a sudden, you’re on someone’s radar screen.

Do businesses have to report those as well? I thought it was just banks and at the border.

Start a company exporting scrap steel to China. Hide the cash in demolished cars and then retreve it in Hong Kong. Open bank account in Macho and report income to the IRS as gambling wins, and pay lots of taxes on it, or just live in Hong Kong and not report it

Glad to hear it. It would disturb me if a Doper should practise uralognia, bestiality and paedophilia all at once. :stuck_out_tongue:

You find a million dollars - How do you use it without attracting suspicion?

IRS Form 8300

You can certainly get a Visa debit/ATM card from a Swiss Bank that will work all over the world. Now you’re supposed to declare if you leave the States with more than $10,000, but you’re also not supposed to rob banks. I’d make 8 or 10 trips to Paris over a few years and then hop the train to Switzerland. There isn’t any boarder procedure on the train. I don’t think anybody would raise an eyebow to someone going to Europe every few months; maybe you have a girlfriend on the side there.

Then, just use your debit card for your everyday bills and purchases. You could even buy a place abroad when you get ready to “retire” with your swiss funds.

I wasn’t going to say anything until I saw the link to the prior thread . . . but isn’t it ironic that threads on the (AFAIK) rather minor infraction of file sharing will be shut down pronto, but not two threads that are explicit “how-to” guides for money laundering and tax evasion?

Funny old world.

I think more people own PCs and so are equipped to file share, than are equiiped to rob a bank.

On the thread topic, start a car boot sale or craft event business. Car booting would be better as if necessary you can self-receipt. Then keep accounts with a few fictious items that you never actually bought or sold, and slip the money in as you go. You could clear a fair amount into the system each week if done correctly (there are second hand fairs and boot fairs most days). If for example it was jewellery you could clear several hundred through per show.

Purchase anything you can in cash, gets more into the system. Opening an account in Lichtenstein isn’t really an option anymore, but a private bank in Luxemburg or Switzerland may be - the trick is that to avoid red flags you need to have cleared enough to be able to open one in your own right.

If you don’t mind reducing your ill-gotten gains through losses, learning to play poker and declaring it as the winnings from overseas/international territory winnings could be possible. Small flutters at casinos etc may be a way to filter some more into the system.

However, as the FBI missed Aldrich Ames buying Jaguars for cash, if you can find the right person to buy from, a lot could be possible.

I think the tips in this thread could come in handy for lots of folks, not just bank robbers, if they have any amount of money they’d like to avoid paying taxes on.

I took a cruise last year, and security was even tighter than in airports. I never had to show a passport to get on a plane, and I never had to go through customs to get off.

A thread on how to commit a felony, and how to launder the money afterwards?

No, thank you.
