I’ve kinda moved into my girlfriend’s apartment, you see, and of course she has a different computer with a different ISP and so forth. There is a clear temptation here to just go ahead and register with a different name (like, say, **furt**?), but knowing how the mods and all take offense to such things, it would perhaps be wiser to simply find a way to log in with my own user name, that is to say, **Mr. Svinlesha**. This is all the more frustrating since I’m hardly at home at all these days and spend my free time perusing **Great Debates** without being able to respond. I suppose I could re-register as **Mr. Svinlesha II** , but that would probably be right out. Can I log on as **Mr. Svinlesha** from more than one computer, and if so, how do I go about doing that? Anxiously waiting to rejoin the debates, I remain, **Mr. Svinlesha** ---

Just log in as you normally would. The sock puppet thing is really only an issue if you register under a new name from the same ISP. Logging in as yourself from a different computer is pretty much a matter of course around here. After all, a lot of people here post from work and from home. ---

Whoops. Forgot to clarify that. Thanks, **waterj2**. I didn’t meant to imply that more than one user name was permissable. I may have read to much into the OP, because what I meant to imply (and did a weak job of) was that if two people sharing a computer (he and his girlfriend for example) log in with their own – and different – names, it can appear as though there is sock puppetage going on. In rereading my post, however, I see that is not what I said. I blame the lack of morning coffee. As waterj2 pointed out, you are not allowed to have more then one user name. But you can be **Mr. Svinlesha** from any computer that you happen to be using. [Edited by Ukulele Ike on 09-20-2001 at 10:35 AM] ---

Ohhh…the Login button. (Hits self over head with a hammer) I’m cookied at home, you know, so I just surf in and get that pleasant little message, “_welcome, Mr. Svinlesha_.” Never have to log in, you know. Forgot all about it. ~Hey I’m writing this from my local library computer as my isp has seemingly gone down for all eternity. (Bummer!) I was a bit worried about being able to post but I just clicked on ‘profile’ and logged in that way with my username and password. Good to remember that there is a less roundabout way of doing it. I thought about starting a pit rant wishing eternal curses on BT Internet but gawd I just don’t have the energy right now! I have just had to write emails to all my online friends so they don’t think I have died or something…bitch bitch _grumble_ So anyway, you really can post from another computer! Yay!! (this screen is so much bigger than I’m used to it’s kinda luxurious…🙂 ) ---

Just don’t forget to log out if you post from a public computer! If you don’t know how to do that, go back to the front page; just under the forum descriptions will be a “log out” link. ---

It may be a good idea to let an admin know that’s what you’re doing. It just helps keep everyone abreast of things. Robin
