> It’s the same effect as the mentos in diet coke trick. The flavouring provides masses of nucleation points and the CO2 outgasses immediately making a sticky mess of your kitchen.

Yes it seems the pure water can be moved around with lots of CO2 in it,
but if there is flavour in there, its all bubbly.

The flavour, eg sugar seems to make foam, and I say eg sugar because the diet coke foams up without sugar !

> I bought these [paintball cylinders](http://www.amazon.com/Empire-Ounce-Aluminum-Paintball-Tank/dp/B000LSHR1Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451139253&sr=8-1&keywords=Empire+12+Ounce+Oz+Aluminum+CO2+Paintball+Air+Tank+NEW) and this [SodaStream Adapter](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CU0E73O?keywords=Sodastream%20Soda-club%20Co2%20Adapter&qid=1451139342&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1) from Amazon. I have the cylinders refilled at a local sports supply store (Dick’s) for a fraction of the cost of SodaStream cylinders - $1.99 each instead of $15.00.

> Here is a mod that utilizes a 20 pound C02 commercial cylinder (the one in the picture was probably originally marked “Property of the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company”) to replace your sodastream cylinder all together. Your local fire extinguishing company would gladly sell you a cylinder, and recharge it for you very inexpensively, to bring your sodastream costs down by quite a bit.

I’ve used both mods. I started out with the paintball tank mod. We drink a lot of soda, so I’d refill three 24 oz tanks once a month. But more often than not, Dick’s would be out of CO2 when I went in, which got really old. Apparently their business model is to wait until they are completely out before ordering more. But anyway…

I finally got sick of it and ordered a Freedom One mod. This setup is awesome. A 10 lb tank lasts about three months, and a local home brewing company exchanges them for $15. And I’m in and out in less than two minutes, rather than waiting around at Dick’s while they slowly fill up paintball tanks.
