Soft-core porn

Well, MrWhy, I am afraid that I am gonna have to agree with you. I could not imagine NOT getting at least a little excited about this, too much would be happening. I would also imagine that I would be a little too zoned out to not be able to handle a production crew watching, though at first it may be a little akward.

Conan O’Brien interviewed some actor one time (I think it was David Chappelle) and he said for his love scene he was strapped into a restrictive modesty device that made it virtually impossible to rise to the occasion.

I remember reading an article in Movieline magazine (back when it was still good) where a group of women were watching explicit sex scenes from mainstream films and guessing if the performers were actually “performing” or just faking it. The consensus was that Roarke and Otis were really having sex because the women felt she wasn’t a talented enough actress to have convincingly faked her on-screen orgasm.

Playboy centerfold models are prohibited by contract from appearing in adult films. Most decide that the money they could earn isn’t worth the risk of lawsuit and loss of Playboy related publicity (along with the numerous other reasons for deciding not to have sex on camera). Wiegel got into porn because she needed some quick money for medical bills after a car accident. She first approached Playboy asking for some modeling or acting work, but when they turned her down she accepted an offer from an adult film company.

Teri Weigel has gone one further–she now works as a prostitute at a legal brothel in Nevada.

The question of “do they or don’t they” is hard (no pun intended) to answer. Mira Sorvino said in a recent interview that more of the sex scenes in mainstream movies are real than you think. I have to suspect that this applies to soft-core, as well.

Naturally, I discount the soft-core films where the persons involved couldn’t possibly have their genitals anywhere near the right location.

One of my favourite films is Betty Blue. (I wish it would be released on DVD!) At the beginning, “Zorg” and “Betty” go at it for several minutes. It looked very realistic.

I worked on a film called Cut Up. There was a nude scene and the male actor was asked if he had been… ah, “stimulated”. He said it was har… difficult… not to be when you have an attractive naked woman writhing on top of you. (FTR, the actual sex was simulated.)

There was the Oral sex scene in that Madonna movie (can’t remember the title) where she stood on the hood of a car and Willen Dafoe… you know…

As he was walking up to her you could see she didn’t have anything on. Even if she had on something sheer, his face was right in it so there’s no avoiding it.

I also remember hearing during that movie that Dafoe finished off and Madonna said something like “you should have let me know, we could have fun with it”.

At least one non-porno movie has included an actual on-camera sex act. In the 1986 Italian film Il Diavolo in Corpo (aka Devil in the Flesh) there was a scene in the script where Maruschka Detmers’ character was supposed to perform fellatio on another character. Supposedly, there were originally plans to make an artificial penis for her to use in the scene but when this didn’t work out, Detmers said it wasn’t like she hadn’t done it before and actually fellated her co-star.
