What is the name of the software used for the SDMB? I have seen the same format used in dozens of other message boards. Where can I find this software? Can I download it for free and put it on my website? Thanks ---

You can if you’re willing to pay for it. Truth of the matter is, there’re literally a billion and a half different pieces of bulletin board software that look pretty much the same. According to a coworker, one of the best free ones is phpbb (at [http://www.phpbb.com](http://www.phpbb.com), IIRC). And they’re all pretty easy to set up. (BTW, don’t you _hate_ people that misuse literally? ;)) ---

To be more correct, it’s [http://www.vbulletin.com](http://www.vbulletin.com). Come stop by the UnaBoard. I have a thread where I talk about the exact hardware and software I used to set my vBulletin Board up (the same software as used here). And yes, vBulletin has a free version of their software, but it is very very limited. ---
