Solar Eclipse on December 25th

Well, I live in Seattle, which will see almost 40%, but I’ll be with family in California’s Sierra Nevadas for Christmas, so I’ll only get to see 20% or so. :frowning:

The only other eclipse I’ve seen was the Aug 11, 1999 total in Europe. I got very lucky – I had been signed up to go on a mission trip to Romania for months before I heard about the eclipse. After working in Romania for 2 weeks, we played in Salzburg, Austria (which was right in the path of totality) for 3 days – the last of which was Eclipse Day! And it was amazing. It was kinda cloudy until about 15 minutes before the eclipse started, and then the clouds started dispersing, and by totality there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Apparently, most of the path of totality was cloudy that day, so we were very blessed to have seen it. And about 2 hours after totality, the clouds had come back so thick there wasn’t a spot of blue, and a massive thunderstorm started.

It was awesome.

thank you, kiffa and bibliophage. i’ve emailed my office and kith&kin. even ordered my solar viewing glasses. i’ll be in the 54% range. thinking clear sky thoughts.
