Solar total eclipse bragging

BRAGGING TIME!

In the immortal words of Homer Simpson “Oh glory of glories! Oh heavenly testament to the eternal majesty…” something something.

Low horizon cloud threatened. Then a large tower of cloud plonked itself right in the way. Nerdy girl just down the beach who did the maths calculated that the sun would not climb above the cloud by the time of totality. We got to see most of the disc covered by the time it hid behind the cloud… Then Bam! Just at totality, the cloud cleared. Audible gasps from the crowd. And there it was, hanging in the sky. At this point words fail me. Mother Nature is such a ham sometimes. But I saw it, and my face will be adorned with smiles for the foreseeable future.

Wondrous, wondrous thing.

Wow.

I’m also in Napier and it’s been pretty much obscured by the clouds. Really just darker and now lighter.

I am very jealous. Well done, you.

All I’ll have to do is step outside for this one!

But I also I plan on being the easternmost person in the continental US to view the totality from smack dab sitting on the center of the path, in a boat, in the Intracoastal Waterway.

As long as the fanatics haven’t taken over by then, and destroyed all the monuments. Admittedly, it’s still a far-fetched notion at present, but then today it’s hard to believe that the Grateful Dead were permitted to perform at Gizeh in the 1970s.

Glad the weather cooperated with you. We were due to have about 60% in Canberra, but but it has been totally overcast all morning.

I saw the 1999 eclipse. It was awesome and humbling. I too hope to see the eclipse in the Faroes - being in Aberdeen is rather handy for that.

And Labtrash, you are hosting an eclipse Dopefest, right?

Hey, as many as we can fit on the pontoon boat I plan on renting (and probably crashing into a bank just like I did at DisneyWorld)!
