Some Of My Patients Get In Bed Fully Clothed!

I’m going to assume that people like to keep their clothes on not because their Dr. or RT might see them naked, but so other patients and/or their families don’t. If the people are in non private rooms and their roomie gets alot of visitors…or even if their room is located in a particularly busy section of the hospital that gets a lot of hallway traffic…I wouldn’t be surprised that they would want to keep their clothes on.

In my case, at the clinic and hospital I go to it’s because I know too many people. Small town, busy place. There are probably more people wandering the hall outside my examining room than there are walking down main street, and at any given time I probably know more than half of them. The guy that drives the Pepsi delivery truck to the store I used to work at. My son’s second grade teacher. The pastor that officiated at my nephew’s funeral last month that also happens to be the father of one of my son’s best friends and classmates. My neice’s boyfriend. The guy that reads my electric meter.

So no, I’m not going to trot down the hall to the lab dressed only in my socks and a gown that doesn’t quite meet in the back.

Neither do I appreciate the nurse popping her head in with a question for the doctor in the middle of my pelvic exam. You see, the examining table is situated in the room in such a way that I’m giving the people mentioned above plus a bunch of total strangers a full beaver shot while you’re standing there with the door open.

And please, Dr. Don’t stand in the hall and tell me through the open door that “Your yeast infection is probably caused by the antibiotics you’re taking for the sinus problem, and I’ll be right back with a 'script for those hemmorhoids.”

Quasi…
RTs are the bomb—I’d rather have an RT in on a messy delivery than a Pediatrician.
