Some points on IP's that people seem to be afraid of for nothing.

So No Fear, did you register two (or more) names?

No Fear of Contradiction said:

If you had another name in anythread, and then registered NFoC without e-mailing Tuba and having her change it, then you had two names at the same time. This isn’t nuclear physics–try counting on your fingers.

I’m thinking more along the lines of Oat Willie, or maybe the late, unlamented Popcorn…if they were indeed different people. (Get’s hard to tell–we need scorecards.)

Pepper! You’re the one that stole by Britney alarm clock!? You bitch!

This one’s just too easy, and this is not the Pit, so I’ll let it fly for now. But replay this sentence in your head, and see the hidden reference to your own small genit - oops, well, you know what I mean…

I’m watching you, “No Fear”. Take that as a warning. Fair is fair, but don’t get gratuitous about it.

That’s sorta like saying “I have to go and take a No Fear and wipe my Serlin.” Wow. That’s a crap-tacular insult.

Still, I hold out hope that this is just another case of the “Square Peg Blues”, and you will really turn out to be decent and valued contributor to this board.

This implies you had two names.
Two names=bad
If you EVER had two names, you were violated forum rules. Why can’t you accept that?

That’s because as an Admin, Tuba knows when people are violating the agreement. In order to make it clear that she knew, and to politely inform you that you needed to choose a name, she emailed you. Simple as that.

Stick around, you probably will be.

Replacement name? Implies you had two names.
See, how simple this is?

LOL, though I noticed you got Anthracite involved. Smooth move Slick.

tshirts, please accept my apologies if I offended you. I find it extremely frustrating to continually see snide attacks on the operation of the board, its administrators, and its moderators. I thought Beer was being reasonable, obviously saam did not. Beer was attacked. As one who participates fairly heavily on the board, one who is daily thankful that the board is here and open to the public, and one who counts many people here, including Beer as friends, I do not in any way appreciate people who are rude to their hosts, and have a right and an obligation to defend them.

NFoC, it was not my intent to twist your words. I’m sorry you took it that way. I assumed when you said that you had tried more than one user name that meant you had registered more than once. I’m still not sure what you meant by it, though.

saam, no harm, no foul. I took a couple of your posts to be cheap shots at Beer. You say they were not, no worries.Back you your OP, what else besides IPs should the admins be logging? (Chronos and techchick asked that , but I think it got lost in the noise).

Tuba, Beer, I’m very sorry for contributing to the noise.

Wow, another person makes their debut by calling Tuba Diva a liar. Usually I get over here earlier than this when this sort of thing happens, sorry I’m late guys. First, the way to be branded the next Mark Serlin is to post ignorant misogynistic screeds a la FarTreker and Prism02.

Now on to the discussion that’s going on. The mods don’t look at everyone’s IP addresses. There’s, what, 600,000 posts here altogether, each one with an IP address logged for it. They look at IP addresses when they have some reason to suspect someone of having more than one screen name. It is one of a number of tools they have for keeping us all in accordance with the rules.

Without a more detailed account of exactly what transpired that caused No Fear to be subjected to the gross indignity of an email from TubaDiva, I’m not going to believe his accusations. If you want to make the claim that the administration of this board lies about board policy, I want some real evidence. Until something substantial is presented, forgive me for being a bit skeptical. Well, more than a bit, I guess.

Hopefully we all have a new understanding of one another and we can move forward.

In that spirit, I’m closing this thread.

your humble TubaDiva
