Why does Khan maroon the crew of the Reliant on Ceti Alpha V? It really doesn’t strike me as his style, ya know? And how, exactly, does he take over the Reliant? Yeah, he can use Chekov and Captain Tyrrell as hostages, but I’d think that the crew wouldn’t give up just to save the two of them, and if the Captain started doing strange things, the crew would be well within regs to relieve him of command.
Also, when Khan’s beamed the Genesis device out of the cavern on Regula, and Chekov has his fainting spell, Kirk and company are sitting around talking. Dr. McCoy announces that Chekov’s coming to, and Carol tells David to show the others the Genesis cave, so that she and Kirk can talk. Nobody does anything with Chekov! He’s just left to lay there on the floor. Kind of bizarre, IMHO.
