Tonight at work, thing’s were really dead. Almost everyone had either been sent home or had gone home. I was able to stay because there was a little bit of work trickling in, but there wasn’t much of it. I’m sitting at my work station which is in the middle of the floor, practically, waiting for them to bring me some paperwork to key into the computer. I’m totally bored, as there’s no one around for me to talk to, and so I click on IE to see what kind of internet access they give the employees. It brings up my employer’s home page, and I key in [cnn.com](http://cnn.com) to see if I can go anywhere else on the web. CNN comes up just as pretty as you please (got a great connection, BTW), I notice the screen doesn’t say anything about a proxy, so I start to type [straightdope.com](http://straightdope.com) into the address bar. As soon as I hit the “s” it drops down with [http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a3\_398b.html](http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a3_398b.html) ! So I don’t know who you are, but it’s nice to know that someone else at work knows about the Dope! ---

I have to watch what I post because there’s this bitch at work who knows I’m on the boards. I so often want to post about what a snooty bitch she is, but I don’t, because if I were to start a thread with my user name, it’s possible she might read it. BITCH BITCH BITCH BITCH. She’s made it no secret that she plans on leaving the company at the end of August. Please, let this come to be. I’d start a Pit rant about her, but as I mentioned above, that could tip her off. ---

I would just like to go on the record saying that I only come to SDMB during lunch at work. Also, I stop by if there isn’t really anything going on around the office at the time. OK, OK, I do take the _occasional_ “break” just to keep work from becoming too monotonous now and then as well. And of course, I also have to check in breifly every 10-15 minutes just to see if anyone has replied to one of my posts. But other than that… ---

I sense you have a lot of anger, **scott**. But at least it’s not repressed.😃 I used to surf the Dope while I actually worked - I was doing mailouts and crap, and I would read while I sorted out massive piles of stuff and stuffed envelopes. I’m a very multi-tasking kinda girl. I also hated that job and didn’t give a teeny little rodent hiney if I was fired or not. ---

I forget which version of Windows, but at least one included solitaire in it’s tutorial. You could have claimed you were just brushing up on your skills. 🙂 ---

They’re starting to watch people’s Internet activities at my workplace more, so I’ve had to cut myself back to just checking the SDMB out during the first hour of my day when most people haven’t come in yet. I’ve never tried playing Solitaire at work, but on more than one occasion I have walked by someone’s cubicle and seen a game of Hearts in progress on his screen. ---
