Hey one minute there were 101 posts in the “so, what’s wrong with Communism?” thread. Now there are 97. What’s goin on here. Is it a Capitalist conspiracy? Please say it aint so.

I haven’t checked, but I’d bet big bucks that the post count reduction is simply the efforts of your humble and hard-working Great Debates moderators, removing the multi-posts that seem to crop up whenever the board goes down.

Well, hey, I don’t wanna start a whole new thread, 'cause it isn’t that important, but **TubaDiva,** there’s a Pit thread, “Internet Toolbox” by **Lissa** that keeps giving me a “Page Not Found” page.
Whassup? In transit to MPSIMS or something? Usually they don’t give you a “not found” thingie, usually it’s just reallly sloowww…and then you see that it’s been locked/and/moved.

Yeah, you were right thanks. However, when I first looked in, after the count was reduced, it only showed the earlier posts. It looked like everything after a certain point had been deleted. Everything is left again.

We had to reset the server late this afternoon, and apparently something happened to Lissa’s post; she must have posted right about that time and it got sucked into the wormhole or something. I had noticed something strange at GD too. For instance, the post count on “Why do people hate gays” went up and it says the last post was made at 7PM, but when you open it, the last post was actually in early afternoon. I’ve tried refresh, but nothing new pops up.

**Beaker,** after you’re here long enough you’ll realize that what you’re describing happens all the time. I find it helps to visualize a pipeline extending from my computer to the SDMB server, and thence to the MB itself. Sometimes posts just get stuck in the pipeline, and all you can do is wait for them to show up. We all just get used to it; you will, too.

## The reason Refresh doesn’t work, in the situation you’re describing, is just because the post hasn’t arrived yet. You can go out on the porch and check the mailbox as many times as you want, but if the mailman hasn’t even arrived yet, you’ll be disappointed every time.

I’ll add that while hitting refresh doesn’t cause the missing posts to appear, sometimes adding one more post does. This can be very embarrasing, because when the missing posts become visible, your post may look like it’s just repeating something that someone said two hours ago. However, that post wasn’t visible when you made you post.
