And due to Big Boy’s quality, it might explain the greenish color, too.
Maybe it was Rupert Murdock’s head exploding when he heard Obama won the Peace Prize?
Let me guess…you were then transported, and probed anally, right?
Hmm, in all seriousness I just mentioned this to a coworker, and she said her son woke up just after 2am this morning and saw a huge fireball moving very slowly in the sky, giving out sparks.
We’re just about to enter the Orionids shower (15-29 October) at the moment; wonder if they’re particularly active and early this year?
Sigmar’s back, and he’s pissed!
That was some of the most super creepiest music I’ve ever heard. I’ve never had music make me that uncomfortable. It was like the beginning to the remake of the All New Super Creepy Twin Peaks, Now With Extra Creepy.
I saw something similar earlier this year and posted about it (Seen any fireballs fall from the sky lately? I have). Certainly this is a sign of the End Of Days…
A few weeks ago a spectacular meteorite over the Great lakes really turned out to be jettisoned septage from the space station. Can’t find it on Google, but that was the gist from the nightly news follow up on a super bright shooting star reported across the region.
yeah, that was some pretty creepy music.
Imagine it playing while watching a video of spiders doing creepy spidery stuff instead of something cool like meteors.
My friend seems to think now that it was a Chinese firework that they saw. :smack:
The timing was about right so I presumed it was the same thing ye both saw.
Never mind.
Dammit.
Huh? It’s going to be all nights from now on?
Great. Good call. Now we’ll have omni-powerful aliens showing up every other week to destroy the world.
October 2 I saw what had to be a good sized meteor to the north of Riverside County, CA going “down” to the north, with pieces coming off. It didn’t last as long as the OP’s, but I can hardly imagine it was anything else. Of course, for something lasting probably 3-4 seconds, it’s possible that even in a large metropolitan area like this, with building and trees blocking views, only about 10 people saw it. Well, there is a N/S highway here, so I wonder…
I tried a bit to check the news, but the TV news isn’t going to take time to report on it unless they have video, and it’s a nonstarter otherwise, with no damage or hole to report.
Here is a picture of one over Germany a couple days ago, it is today’s Astronomy Picture of the Day.
Groningen is in the Netherlands. Cool picture, though
I’m pretty sure that wasn’t a meteor, it was Doctor Evil.
That was just Dr. Evil returning. They made a documentary about it a few years ago.
ETA: D’oh! Note to self: read to the end before responding!
The Orionid meteor shower is happening around now. They are known to often produce large fireballs. Peak is Oct 20-22 this year.
