Something Wicked this Way Comes

One of my favorite college memories is a birthday party. At the end of the night, we’re all passing out on the floor, couch, wherever, and the music is off, and the only two sounds are snoring, and someone reading out loud Something Wicked This Way Comes. Perfect.

By the prickling of my thumbs…

Now I want to re-read it too.

I think SWTWC is one of the best book titles ever.

It also makes a great t-shirt if you are a Pratchett fan.

A truly great work of 20th century American literature. Not limited to fantasy or horror, but all of literature. I believe it is up there in the top 20.

Bradbury wrote some of the most lyrical prose and his poetry isn’t bad either.

Is there a general Bradbury thread where I can converse with others about his other works?

I loved the book. I haven’t seen the film in a while.

I think so.

In case anybody didn’t know, EC comics (home of Tales From The Crypt) adapted a lot of Bradbury’s stuff*. Most of EC’s horror run was reprinted as single issues back in the nineties.

  • I’ve heard they originally stole one of his stories. Bradbury sent them a standard letter saying ‘You can pay me the story fee and we can come to an arrangement, or I can have my attorney file suit.’
