I agree…to me, the worst are those idiots with straight pipe Harleys-the noise is horrible. Plus, the $#@&holes who ride them seem to think we like their noise.:mad: ---

When my kids start fighting or just being loud it drives me nuts, I can’t even think straight. I try to put up with it, but I just can’t. Loud dressing rooms after hockey games drive me crazy also but if I have a few beer it does not seem to bother me as much. ---

No, I had an older sister and we fought constantly. My father and sister especially had knock-down drag-outs, and the screaming was unbelievable. After that ended I got used to a peaceful life, and now when faced with noise like kids shrieking in the street or my 10-year-old niece horsing around with her cousins, I am hypersensitive to it. I don’t even know what is a reasonable level of noise anymore. Working in a newspaper office is like a monkey cage, but I got fairly able to tune that out. Loud restaurants and people who won’t stop banging things around at concerts freak me out. ---

No, have a younger sister and the TV was on a lot as a kid. I’m in noise hell right now – the “clubhouse” at my condo where I use WiFi has some kind of personal counselor consulting with some drip of a cowbag client, and another dude using the internet started chatting loudly on the telephone. To be inconspicuous, I went to the patio, putting on headphones (connected to nothing), ostensibly to smoke my pipe, returned to my computer and am now listening to Dr. John. I’m starting to twitch uncontrollably in the face and hands, though. ---

At least that “counselor” or “advisor” or whatever he was supposed to be left. The other guy was just deliberately speaking loudly into his phone to tweak them a bit, I think. He left too. The headphones are good in this setting – it’s like being in a nice little cocoon of inviolability, although no sound for almost 2 hours (with the exception of a million versions of “Yes We Can.” At least I learned a new tune today – didn’t know it had words. ---

I didn’t realize I was hypersensitive til I was 40 or so even though there were signs when I was much younger. Maybe it got worse as I got older. My doctor says it’s a neurological condition. I have 4 siblings. ---

I’m now almost totally deaf in my left ear, except for the constant ringing from that ear. It’s the last thing I hear at night and the first thing I hear in the morning. I’ve learned to (mostly) ignore it because I have no choice. Background noise drives me insane; I cannot sound locate and have had to almost completely give up driving because I cannot tell where sirens or horns are coming from. If I’m in a group of people and someone calls my name, I simply cannot locate the person talking to me. I usually watch TV with the volume turned off; I can’t surf the web when the TV is on. I’m rapidly gaining a reputation as an anti-social hermit but being alone is the only way I can keep my sanity. I used to be a rather outgoing social person but that’s a think of the past. I wish I had answer but I don’t. ---
