# Sometimes I can't tell English from French

Sometimes I’ll come back from an errand and my wife asks how well the person spoke English. But I don’t remember if the conversation was in English or Thai. :smack:

What about when people nearby are speaking a foreign language, but so faintly or foreignly that you only hear a blur? I sometimes feel that Chinese has rhythms, tones or sounds just like French! 😕
